This was patterned after the sovereign citizen videos.

Apr 13, 2021, 12:28 PM [ in reply to Yes, ironically I just posted about this ]

Sovcits bait cops into stopping them, then start in with the "am I being detained", "what crime have I committed", "I do not have to exit my vehicle", every question is answered with a questions, etc and etc. In those videos - and there are hundreds - the cops treat white people and black people exactly the same in those traffic stops, and there are as many white sovcits as black ones doing this. I am not saying that the person in this video was a sovcit, but the pattern of behavior was clearly copied from those videos.

None of those people ever win in court, because whether we like the law on these matters or not, the law seems to be clear. If a person is operating a vehicle, he/she can be asked to show identity, exit the vehicle, etc. A person choosing to use public roads is not the same as a person sitting in his/her home.

Two white cops treating a black person this way, in this polarized time, looks bad. But I can link anyone to dozens of videos of white and black cops treating white drivers exactly the same way. If you are pulled over for an infraction, and you start disobeying lawful orders, the cops get insistent in a hurry.

This stop was not about white/black. I can show that to be the case. If we want to allow drivers greater leeway in behavior, that is a question we need to decide separately.

videos and patterened his responses along those lines. Refusing to exit the car was a big no-no.

To be fair, the only video I have seen starts at the point that he is stopped and is refusing to communicate or exit the car. Whether it should have gotten to that point, I don't know. But the general rule is that when you are on public roads you are agreeing to a number of police requests that do not apply when you are at home or walking down the street.

If what you just said is true about cops handling sovcit stops, you also know your meme isn't honest.

There's a lot going on here.

Apr 13, 2021, 1:53 PM [ in reply to This was patterned after the sovereign citizen videos. ]

I'm not sure the correlation between this guy and sovereign citizens is anything other than coincidence considering they're very obvious questions to ask. I still don't understand what initiated the incident or why the cop absolutely refused to communicate what was going on. Separately, there's the issue of exactly what the police are allowed to do in terms of stopping someone and checking their paperwork. The difference between mild inconvenience and harassment isn't that far, and it's becoming more and more clear that the police don't always use great judges. Unlike what our parents taught us growing up, you should absolutely be worried even if you've done nothing wrong.

They are both examples of non-compliance. In the first case, it's non-compliance with a generally accepted show of respect that will cost you some money. The second type of non-compliance is the variety that will get you pepper sprayed, hand-cuffed, and a mug shot.

Apr 13, 2021, 12:13 PM

If he asked me to show an ID, get in to the car, get out of the car, stand here, or sit there, I would comply. The reason I would comply is because I am smart enough to know that just refusing doesn't make the issue go away. It escalates it. Saying "no," assures the thing you don't want to happen, escalation, is going to happen.

Spend some time thinking on it and you will realize how the examples of compliance I give differ from your "weiner sucking" example.

Are we really going down this rabbit hole of gross stupidity?

Produce the most recent video of a police officer or officers, guns or tasers drawn, demanding a motorist or pedestrian suck his or their weiners. This will make it easier, forget most recent - produce one such video.

Apr 13, 2021, 12:22 PM

it seems the crowd who runs to the "he was a thug" defense every time keep coming back to the "comply or die" line.

I'm just wondering why we even have judges and juries. Either do everything the officer tells you or the officer can now become the judge/jury/executioner.

Of course this is is usually the same people who cheered on assaulting cops to break into the Capitol building

If you can't see the irony then I don't know where you are mentally. And by you I mean these people in general

I mean really are you getting this from your social media feeds. Don't be such a #######.

On seeing the last part of the video, I thought the cop was a POS and should get some type of consequence. However, that was not the whole story, as it always ends up.

The dude was driving for some amount of time NOT STOPPING. And the reason for this is because people like FBCoachSC® keep repeating the narrative that he rants about here.

The color of the military Lt doesn't matter. If it is a white dude driving and not pulling over, I'd expect he would get the same treatment from that cop.

So if an officer asks you a question he's not legally

Apr 13, 2021, 12:26 PM [ in reply to Re: Would you comply with an ]

allowed to ask, or orders you to do something he's not legally allowed to do, the answer is always "comply, or you're risking death"? A REAL big part of the problem is that many police officers either don't know the laws they're tasked with enforcing, or are counting on you not knowing them or being scared enough that you obey for fear of violent retribution.

Re: So if an officer asks you a question he's not legally

Apr 13, 2021, 12:54 PM [ in reply to So if an officer asks you a question he's not legally ]

Why get bogged down in things an officer isn't legally allowed to ask you to do? Why not deal with the facts here as best we have them? The police, for whatever reason, ordered the guy out of the car - repeatedly. The motorist failed to comply and was pepper sprayed. He wasn't executed, didn't risk death, wasn't given the Rodney King treatment. He was sprayed and removed from the car.

The "big part" of the problem has nothing to do with police officers not knowing the law. The "big part" of the problem is a growing attitude in this country that police are the bad guys and you don't have to comply with them.

So....if you don't believe you should comply with the police, don't. I wouldn't advise that course of action, but do what you want. The next time you're stopped, refuse to comply and educate the officer on the law. See how that works out for you.

AFDAWG said:

And this is the problem. The fact that how this can "work out for you" is being shot dead is a problem. Giving people who could barely graduate high school, and where there's a literal IQ cap in most departments, the ability to do whatever they want to you because you "didn't comply" is the problem.

Sorry, but that analogy is pretty stupid...

Apr 13, 2021, 1:10 PM

the guy in VA was stopped legally. He drove for 2 mins (which seems like a long time to me) before pulling over, allegedly without signaling to the cop he was going to pull over up ahead.

The cop gets out and can't see what he's dealing with, in part, because of the darkly tinted windows.

The driver does not comply with the 1st officer's command to put his hands out of the window or get out of the car.

The 2nd officer comes in WAY too hot and goes over the top.

But the facts don't change. The driver was given a legal commend from a police officer during a legal stop and he refused to comply. In my book, the cop's actions to pepper spray were warranted.

And I think the 2nd officer deserved the firing he received.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't understand the point of the pepper spray

Apr 13, 2021, 3:22 PM

Seems like something you would use in defense, not to enforce compliance. Like, how would that help him get out of the car? Seems like it hurt more than it helped. It just seems punitive.

If he refused to get out of the car, then I'd think you'd just grab him or something. Then use the pepper spray if he gets physically aggressive.

Of course, you would charge him as necessary with the refusal to comply.

I heard some cop trainer saying yesterday, at that point, it was either pepper spray or taser and pepper spray was the correct choice.
