Question for the board on Kentucky Derby day

What is South Carolina’s signature sporting event? Darlington? The Heritage? The Palmetto Bowl? Or something else?

I think I have to go with Darlington, even though I am not a race fan. I guess Georgia is The Masters. Maybe North Carolina is the ACC basketball tournament.

What states are some of you from, and what do you consider your state’s signature event?

I have been there several times...even saw a horse once!

The Elloree Trials is more my kind of event.

Born and spent 1st 27 years in SC, next 23 years all over the fning place, been in NC the last 26 years. Was a huge NASCAR fan. Sat on the top row of the backstretch at Darlington many times, were you could put your lawn on the concrete bleacher and have the best cheap seat in the house. Only way you could get tickets to Bristol for the Fall night race was to inherit them. Punk ### France Jr fixed that and ruined the best show in NASCAR. Only race I would attend now would be Talladega and nap till the big one. Highlite to the middle years was taking a swim in the dead center of the Atlantic Ocean with Marines standing shark watch.
