QUARTERBACKS...

Jun 14, 2017, 1:02 PM

Unlike a lot of you, I'm not worried about who will be running the team this year. Whoever the coaches pick, I'm sure they'll tailor the offense to suit the quarterback.

What I am concerned with is, what the heck is going to happen to all of our quarterbacks? Will someone leave for another school? Some move to other positions (RB, receiver, safety)? I can't see how we can possibly hold on to the talent we will have by next year. Then again, if you want to be part of a National Championship team with the talent to go there several more times in the next few years, then maybe you want to stay and be a part of that!

Kelly Bryant
Zerrick Cooper
Chase Brice
Tucker Isreal
Hunter Johnson
Trevor Lawrence
others?

A problem we've never had before!

I think..

If Bryant keeps the job:
Johnson - transfers
Cooper - transfers
Israel - backup
Brice - backup
Lawrence - enrolls

If Johnson/Cooper wins the job:
Bryant - switchs positions / transfers
Cooper/Johnson - transfers
Israel - backup
Brice - backup
Lawrence - enrolls

I don't know why people sleep on Bryant so much from a QB talent standpoint. He wasn't heralded for 2 reasons when recruited: 1. He has Crohn's disease and teams didn't recruit him hard bc there was a chance he wasn't going to play football at all 2. He committed early. But in my mind he's definitely a 4*-5* talent.

There are so many variables. ANything can happen. There may be injuries, redshirts, transfers, etc. who knows who will be playing.

I think Hunter Johnson is the future and if he doesn't win the job this year he'll take over next year. He's got the best skill set for our offense.

Most people seem to be expecting TL to come in and be the man right away but I think there's a better chance he transfers than HJ....

I'm pulling for KB. I'd love to see HJ back him up this year and take over next year.

I guess youre referring to TL transferring as crazy talk. I think a lot of people are blinded by that high rating. I'm not saying he won't be as good as advertised and I'm thrilled he's going to Clemson but I just think HJ fits the system better.

I do not think KB will be starting half way through the season, but I will say I think he could be a better version of TB10. Better ground game and has an absolute cannon, just doesnt seem to read the D very well.

So here is the question: IF TL is as advertised and youre setting up for success, do you go with Hunter because he has a similar skill set and style as to give yourself options and keep things more consistent. OR do you go with Cooper to mix it up a little and give your offense a different look and feel?

If I were Dabo, I think Cooper would get the nod from me unless KB figures out how to dissect defenses better.

KB should start, Cooper would be my next man up.***

Bottom line . . .

Jun 14, 2017, 3:54 PM

We're loaded, at every position; QB is no exception, and coaches know far better than any of us which one(s) should play.

A very nice problem to have. :)

Re: QUARTERBACKS...

Here is what I see happening.

Bryant will start out at QB in the fall, maybe even Kent State.

Cooper will see the writing on the wall, and probably transfer next year.

Israel will hold the clipboard this year, graduate, then transfer for a 5th year and shoot for competing at an FAU or UCF, somewhere closer to home.

Brice will redshirt, then take over clipboard duties..

Johnson will take over the starting job 2nd or 3rd game in.

TL comes in next year, Johnson as sophomore, and fight it out with Johnson as starter.

Conjecture of course.

Re: QUARTERBACKS...

Jun 14, 2017, 5:10 PM

In my humble opinion baring injuries I could see it playing out like this.

KB starts first 2-3games with ZC and HJ coming in situationally regardless of score.

By week 4-5 I see HJ starting with ZC as backup and KB coming in on run first options when we have the lead.
We make playoffs lose in first round.

Next year HJ is starter (TL gets rotating snaps TNet complains of missed opportunity to redshirt. TL might be named starter mid season or bowl game. ZC transfers TI stays 3rd string.
We make playoffs as a One lose team win national championship.

2019 TL is starter in his second year
TI is backup of HJ transfers. National champs again, NCAA football world start beging to increase to 8 teams so others have a chance at the champs.

2020 same as old but with new names when new freshman 5 star steps on campus :) after another playoff birth Venables is lured away for a HC job at Bama when Darbi tells them thanks but no thanks.

Darn auto correct Dabo, not Darbi ... ahh and HJ as backup when TI transfers... (why can't I edit my post? Don't expect me to proof read it first now do you?)
