Quarterbacks

Sep 8, 2014, 2:17 PM

Just curious....how many of you guys posting here on this board, or calling in to various radio sports talk shows have been on the practice fields? How many of you have been in the position meeting rooms? How many of you have been there to see the QB's during the installation of the offense? ??? yeah thats what i thought!!
Maybe, just maybe it could be that Watson isn't the starter because he does not have a complete grasp for the entire offense. Maybe, just maybe he has a small number of plays that he can handle and be successful in, and those are what has been called while he is in the game. Maybe he isn't ready to make all the checks that need to be made in the game. You should know that since you have been to practice, in the meeting room, in the film sessions.
Sure Watson has played great, and by all indications will be a great player. But I trust the guys who are getting paid to make the decisions....to make the decisions. You guys really think that dabo and morris are playing someone that doesn't give clemson the best chance to win?? Yeah, they want to lose. What qualifies you to second guess this decision. And to boo a player who has been nothing but a team player, and has played pretty well in his first 2 starts is amazing. Trust me, there is a reason why Cole Stoudt is the starting QB....and it isn't because dabo likes him more, or because he is a senior....It's because at this point he gives the TEAM the best chance. Period!
Yall should know that because you have been around the team in everything they do since January.

I think that's the point

none of us are at practice so we have to base opinions off what we see....game performance. I don't know what happens in practice and that is why I don't set the depth chart....but from the small data set I have I would start DW.

Does that mean DW gives up the best chance to win...no, just my opinion that I am voicing on a sports board because thats what they are here for.

There's no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people who ask questions.

best QB is in terms of right now, beating FSU. I think there are pros and cons of both guys. I believe Watson is coming along quicker than they imagined. I don't think it's far-fetched to say that they would feel comfortable starting him had he not had the collarbone set back.

Practice and games are 2 different animals. The sample size is still too small to truly know at this point. I do know that they're going to make what they feel is the best decision.

"You guys really think that dabo and morris are playing someone that doesn't give clemson the best chance to win??"

they took the guy out "that gave clemson the best chance to win" when we were down 14-7 on the road in athens.........unless cole was hurt why would you do that???? (and don't say just to give a freshman some experience)

and the knowledge of the playbook doesn't hold water when the talent limits of stoudt eliminates the ability to run the entire playbook..........not to mention the coaches have said watson knows the playbook.

I trust Coach ChaDabo...

Being a fan in America qualifies me to speak my opinion. Not sure about anyone else. Forget the abysmal second half Cole played against UGA. Did you watch the SCSU game? Cant imagine you did if you thought Cole outperformed, Deshaun. It is my extremely inexperienced opinion that our o-line is average at best, our RBs are average at best and Cole is average in every facet of the position, at best. Forget Deshaun's accuracy or arm strength, the fact that he can flat out scramble, gives us a chance (see Dylan Thompson vs Clemson 2012). If your better player gives you a better chance to win with a smaller playbook (not convinced that's the case with Deshaun because Chad told us it wasn't) than dumb down the play calls and let Deshaun rip. Deshaun has heisman and nfl talent. Cole has been a great ambassador for Clemson, but man I'm shocked at how many people, to include Dabo think he gives us the best shot. I'll continue to pull for Cole, but out of respect for Deshaun, quit teasing him.

You are partly helping me make my point.....1. You are a fan, not a coach. 2.I did watch the 2nd half at UGA. Clemson was backed up every possesion, and Cole had no time to get the ball off, and coaches felt Stoudt's decision making were better suited for those situations.3. if you base who is starting on an ability to scramble then you probably aren't going to be any good anyway. 4. If the coaches felt watson gives us they best chance rt now...he would be starting. 5. A little pre mature to be talking bout heisman and nfl talent.

Could it be that watson is learning more and more each week and when he is ready...will take over...but isn't ready yet.
Keep in mind the term "coach speak" in regards to what they say in the media about certain things( grasp of play book)
