Put CU and FSU in different divisions

Nov 15, 2013, 10:45 AM

The ACC needs to seriously consider doing this. This is the 2nd year in a row that the ACCCG is a marketing train wreck.

I realize Miami, VT and GT are having off years, but I think this problem will continue to happen more often than not. Plus, even if Miami or GT is the coastal rep, they are not going to bring fans to Charlotte.

Clearly the SECCG is better than the ACCCG, and that's gotta get fixed. So, let's swap Miami and Clemson, problem solved.

I've said that for a long time myself.

Frankly, until lately it has not been a problem.

Until Dabo took over VT and GT were ahead of Clemson and would have beaten us regularly for the Coastal crown. If Clemson continues to dominate then maybe we can make a better case for realignment, but we will have to establish a long term track record for being one of the two best teams in the ACC.

It will be even worse next year with Louisville in our

division.

L'ville isn't going to be a top 15 team next year unless

they figure out how to clone Teddy Bridgewater.

Probably not, but given their coaching staff and the financial commitment by the university, they should be a good team moving forward. Wouldn't be surprised if they were top 25 next year

How about this instead with no changes needed

Florida State and Clemson go undefeated every year from now on except with the 1 loss that occurs to one of them during the regular season. Then the winner always goes to the Championship playoff and the loser either goes to the Orange bowl or as a second member of the playoff. I would much rather play a rematch for a national Championship than an ACC one.

Divisions should change every year:

Nov 15, 2013, 12:25 PM

We're all ACC teams, we can go a year without playing a team, but we shouldn't ever have to go 6 years.

Division A:
#1 Team from previous year (Champion)
#4 Team
#5 Team
#8 Team
#9 Team
#12 Team
#13 Team

Division B:
#2 Team from previous year (Loser of Championship Game)
#3 Team
#6 Team
#7 Team
#10 Team
#11 Team
#14 Team

Then each team plays 2 teams from the other division (team across and team opposite it in the order).

So:

#1 Team plays #2 Team and #14 Team
#4 Team plays #3 Team and #11 Team
#5 Team plays #6 Team and #7 Team
#8 Team plays #7 Team and #10 Team
#9 Team plays #10 Team and #6 Team
#12 Team plays #11 Team and #3 Team
#13 Team plays #14 Team and #2 Team

No, I disagree. We are in this position right now b/c

Nov 15, 2013, 12:33 PM

the ACC did exactly that with FSU and Miami. What if you move Clemson to the Coastal division, FSU goes into another period of mediocrity post-Winston, and VT and Miami both become strong again? You could have the 3 best teams in the conference in the same division at that point.

You will just start to chase your own tail if you start

trying to be sure the two best teams are in different divisions. What needs to happen is the schools with legit resources to field good teams ever year need to start doing it. This will increase the odds of an exciting match-up.
