Public Service Question (PSQ)

Jun 14, 2021, 10:35 AM

Does anyone have those dang "sewer flies" in your house that just land on stuff and then when you kill them they leave a black spot on your walls? They especially love landing on the TV screen when the program is on. They don't land during commercials.

They are the latest thing to drive me (more) crazy! Any get-rid-of-them suggestions?

They lay eggs and grow in your drain line.

Put a little baking soda in drain, Add white vinegar. A lot of foaming, then rinse.

Treat again later if they re-appear.

We also have an indoor bug light that really helps in the Summer.

Open door to let dog out, bugs come in.

Just got to get to use to the occasional "pop".

Does that concoction work with gnats?...

Get your biggest pot. Fill it with water. Boil the water and pour it down your drain fast so the boiling water fills the whole pipe. Repeat two or three times.

Got a bunch of drains, so I don't know about boiling water. But, thanks for the suggestions. Will try vinegar and BS.

Terminx told my neighbors to put a capful of bleach into each sink drain in the house. That will kill the insects and their larvae inside the pipe.. Also sanitizes the drain

I tried vinegar and bleach

but the only thing that worked was boiling water

I second the boiling water

I had them a few years ago and they came back a couple of times, but I'd dump a pot of boiling water down the drains for 2 or 3 days in a row before I'd go to work and it killed them.

I have them in my large outdoor trash can and sometimes in my feed room.
This is the quick and easy answer -

skink. I now have a family of 3 living in my home and they do a much better job than those clowns at Orkin.
