PSU Analogy

When I was a student the huge news story with Watergate. Watergate reminds me a lot of the PSU situation. The Watergate break-in was really not a big deal. Had Nixon come clean with what he did and his involvement it would have probably been over and he would have served a second term. The problem was that he tried to cover it up and pretended that he had no part of it.

That is way the NCAA is punishing PSU, they tried to cover it up. The sanctions are not for what Sandusky did or didn't do, it is the fact that they covered it up and mislead people so it would not hurt their recruiting. That gives the NCAA every right to levy penalties.

If schools don't want to live by NCAA rules then they do not have to join. If you agree to be part of an organization then you should agree to the terms of membership. You really don't think the NCAA would pass down the penalties that they did if they didn't have the authority to do it?

The second guy on the podium today was the chancellor at Oregon State and he seemed to represent the college chancellors and Presidents. They all seemed to be sending a message that football does not belong above the educational institutions.

It was a good punishment for the crime and it is not the end of the world for PSU. Clemson was on probation for three years and we came back stronger.

I like how you use Jay Philips's analogy as your own. He said the exact same thing today around 3:30 this afternoon on the radio.

He must be an intelligent guy. I didn't hear it on the radio and don't know who Jay Phillips is. I live in the Atlanta area and we don't get his show around here.
