PS Vue is a Goner - Kaput

They will shut down on 1/30/20:

We regret to inform you that Sony Interactive Entertainment is discontinuing the PlayStation Vue service on January 30, 2020.

New trial and paid subscriber sign up will be deactivated on this site in the near future.

what sucks is i'll probably be out $40 because i loaded gift cards I got. Oh well. Saved that much from DirecTV in a month anyway.

Wow its only been a couple days since they said it was for sale. Well, I wouldn't give up on it totally. I've read that Amazon and Apple and some others are looking to get into the streaming market and Vue would be a ready-made platform and customer base for them to buy to get their foot in the door. And they may would honor those gift cards too.

I'm not taking any chances and just changed to Ultra, then I will not leave any money in my account. Mrs Vandalay will love having all the Hallmark channels for the next couple of months anyway.

I agree, someone may buy them, but I don't know if they'll buy them in time, and doubt gift cards would transfer since you can use them for Playstation stuff, so they'd just say spend on that.

You guys need to find Better Than Cable TV on Facebook. I paid 160$ for an entire year of service for 3 devices.

Not familiar that but I would say if you're paying that per year for comparable programming as Vue/Hulu Live/YTTV.... or its one of those "I can get everything" then it is illegal IPTV. And it is HIGHLY illegal. And just like 90s Napster, they are beginning to shut them down and even go after subscribers.

Do what you like - I'm just saying watch out.

(FYI the 'loophole' given by some people that says its illegal to download - not to stream has never held up in legal proceedings. Streaming is downloading - it just isnt stored for very long on the local device. But it is downloading.)

Apple and Disney are about to begin streaming services. The competition is growing. We might all be switching in the near future in order to get all of the sports channels.
