Projected Final NCAA Rankings: #1 NCS, #2 UGA, #3 Clemson

Sep 28, 2021, 10:50 AM

After their close wins over us I think it'll be hard to justify us being ranked ahead of solid competition like NCS and UGA in the final rankings.

Doeren's bunch could easily run the table this year based on how they performed against us. I think Kirby takes Alabama down because he had a pick 6 on us and that's really hard to do. UGA will likely be slotted at number two though because they didn't score as many points on us as NCS did.

I don't like it but I'm starting to feel like we've got a tough road to get the National Championship this year. The coaches and AP could coronate us from our #3 position, but that's pretty rare. It's not unheard of though, so there's always hope.

Best case scenario:
- The team goes on an absolute run similar to 2011-2014 where they get put on upset alert every single week yet keep coming through. We actually get to play a lot of younger players quality reps that will be extremely meaningful in the coming years. We stop "cross-training" every single OL position and let them become comfortable in a single position first and actually start blowing people off the ball. Slowly our offense goes from 10-14 points a game to 21-28 consistently. We have our usual build towards the end of the season and things finally start clicking heading into the USC game, and Bowl Game. We throttle USC by 21+ points on their home field our seniors, super seniors, and super super seniors get to say they never lost to USC in their careers, we extend the streak and build that momentum towards the post-season. Due to the beginning of the year loss to NC State we don't go to the ACC Championship putting even more emphasis on the bowl game where we beat a top tier level opponent to build towards next year (Texas A&M, Florida, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Oregon, Texas, Notre Dame, etc.). Dabo gives his usual speech on "The worst season we've had in 10 years and we still won as many games as South Carolina did in their best season ever".

Tony Elliott is able to save face publicly and gets an opportunity to be a HC somewhere like he wants. We bring in someone fresh for next season without any Clemson ties that doubles as our QB coach. Robbie Caldwell retires, and we bring in someone who can legitimately teach out OL how to control the line of scrimmage. Due to how the season went potential NFL players like XT, Tyler Davis, KJ Henry, Justin Ross, Joseph Ngata, Frank Ladson, BT Potter, Mario Goodrich, Landen Zanders, and Jordan McFadden all return and we come back in 2022 with a vengeance.

Best case scenario is putting it mildly.
