All this practice time in the new facility hurting us?

Aug 20, 2013, 12:13 PM

I get it that the practice fields are in rough shape. But it just seems like they have spent SO much time indoors throughout camp. Think we will look back and wish we would have spent more time practicing in the grass/mud? The indoor facility is IDEAL conditions. Odds are they wont be perfect on gameday. And what if it pours. Just feel like some practice in tough conditions might be good for the team. At least get them out into the grass a little more.

Thoughts?

All practices should be held during a sharknado

Aug 20, 2013, 12:14 PM

That's how Danny used to do it.

OK, I lol'd.***

No.

Better to practice than not, and better not to get hurt practicing on fields that aren't up to it.

Not to mention

Aug 20, 2013, 4:45 PM

had they been practicing on the outdoor fields exclusively the past few weeks they ran the risk of totally destroying them and having to deal with sub-par practice fields all season long.

When they scrimmage they're in death valley, and they still do some outdoor work, just not when it's raining hard or the field conditions are really bad.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

pretty sure there is some rule where they can't practice

Aug 20, 2013, 12:15 PM

in inclement weather. So that throws out about half of August if we didn't have the indoor facility.

I just hope these guys can dig in come Aug 31 and not be complaining that the field is an issue. Sammy and co. can stop on a dime and cut. Tajh can run, throw, and have good footwork. I just have a bad feeling about weather based on this summer so far.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I believe we finally have a team

Aug 20, 2013, 12:21 PM

that is not going to have to find reasons or excuses to not preform.

Rain or shine, those boys will give their all and the best team will win.

I'm not a 'the sky is falling,' type of guy...

Aug 20, 2013, 12:18 PM

but this time you're right.

If we don't play in a dome the sun or rain might melt us like the wicked witch of the west. WHADAWORL, WHADAWORL!

And if Sammy blows out a knee in a muddy practice

Aug 20, 2013, 12:19 PM

folks will go ballistic.

What happened to the mindset that says Hey, Glad we have the indoor facility and if it rains then we'll just have to put a wet butt whippin on those dogs!!!!!

Go Tigers!!!!!

Here's a list of some schools with indoor practice facilities

Aug 20, 2013, 12:26 PM

And it includes Georgia and Alabama. If it rains, Georgia will be playing in it too, you know...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Aug 20, 2013, 1:51 PM

played, or even practiced on a wet field. i thought if it rained, or was just a little wet, we could play on sunday 9/1, after church, of course. ya think anyone would mind ? don't fool yourself, we'll be ready... Y'ALL JUST BE SURE TO SHOW UP !

Re: dang, i think you are right. none of our players have ever

Aug 20, 2013, 2:07 PM

I think you are over reacting. Death Valley has a much more elaborate drainage system, so while the field may be wet, it won't be ankle deep muddy. But that is where cleats come in handy. Besides daily wear on the much wetter practice fields would likely ruin them for the remainder of the year. But you can be sure they are getting practice time outside when they can. Plus they can open the doors to the indoor facility so they can practice in the same humidity. I'd be more worried about parking in a grass lot and getting out after the game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

agree wholeheartedly. i was trying to be a tad sarcastic, i

Aug 20, 2013, 2:14 PM

guess i should stick to just being a plain old a-hole toward opposing fans, who come in trying to start s***. a tiger can't change his stripes, ya know.
