Preferred Walk-ons Question

Feb 2, 2017, 9:35 AM

So looking at our 2017 list, most of the various lists around the internet show our 14 schollys plus Will Swinney as a preferred walk-on for a total of 15.

I know that we had at least 1 other preferred walk-on sign yesterday in Will Brown.

Why is Brown not being listed like Swinney? Are there any other preferred walk-ons?

Just curious how all this works.

Dabo said in his pressed that he/Clemson couldn't speak on the other preferred walk-ons due to NCAA rules.

Swinney got listed because of who he is. Simple as that. Several show up as preferreds and you never know till they earn a scholarship or get PT. I think others can show up and earn a spot like Dabo did.

There is something yet to be finalized about Brown's

commitment. Dabo said yesterday the rules would not allow him to discuss him. Probably some clerical issue holding it up.

Coaches cannot talk about a prospect / player until they have signed an LOI. No scholarship offer, no LOI. He can speak about Will Swinney because it's his son. He cannot speak about any other non-scholarship walk-ons.

I may have misunderstood, but I thought W. Brown was a Grey Shirt--my guess is they would be a lot of playing time until Hunter leaves-JMO,but W. Brown will play(just has something about him--like the ones they always seem to find) The twins that are coming has everyone(other fan bases) talking like the coaching staff doesn't know anything, but the seem to have the perfect frames for Joey and staff to work on. Both are 6'3" 240-245. We'll see and probably get the last laugh.
