Post your Guitar

Sep 8, 2021, 4:46 PM

Like most, I am a huge fan of guitar and great guitar players.
I am also a huge fan of Pilsner Urquell beer which I buy by the Jeep load from Gold Star in Seneca (all her kids are Clemson Grads).

A couple years back saw this and had to have it:

It is beautiful !!

I have tried with some utube teachers, but have decided just looking at it (and hearing yall play) is my best option.

Post yours -->

For some reason can’t get the picture up but mine is Korean made Ovation. Didn’t cost much but the thing is a tank. Pulled it out of bag last week after sitting for a year, still in tune. For those who don’t know Ovation is an Engineers guitar, look up history on Wiki.

I will have to find this gold star place you speak of and try this beer you speak of..

Across from the Wendy's on 123. Mention the Clemson "Jeep guy" and she will sell it to you at the price I pay. It is the best stocked store in the area.

That’s a sweet one ..The early part of production in 72 could be 4 bolt neck then a switch over to 3 bolt. I have a few 70s strats They are starting to be worth a little more .

That one was not mine, it looked identical. My mother likely sold it after I left for college, having no idea it was worth about 2k at the time. It was a gift and in mint. But learning on that was a biche'. Try beding a full step on the 21st fret on the high E on that thing, it would build up calluses quickly. It also weighed a ton, but man it sounded good.

had a gibson and an epiphone both acoustic,non-electric back in the 60's.picked both up very reasonably.could never bar chords without getting a buzz.always had to use a capo and eventually gave up.fast forward about 10 yrs. i picked up a cheap 5 string banjo(which i could bar)and a book by scruggs and actually taught myself cripple creek.then life got in the way-got married, had kids,so the musical career faded away.still have the banjo etc.but there are too many other priorities at this point.have accepted that i'll only be able to listen to music, which i do love to do.

Here’s my partscaster I built. Late 90’s MIM body, neck was relic’ed by Mr G’s, pickups are custom shop fat 50’s and it just plays and sounds amazing. I think I like building guitars as much as I like playing them

The clear guitar is a Univox is a 1972 “Lucy”
I mowed a lot a lawns to get that. I thought is was the coolest when I was 16.
Now that I am 60 I find it extremely heavy. It is like wearing a concrete block.

Gibson Songwriter Deluxe is great for flatpicking

Sep 10, 2021, 7:01 AM

This is a stock photo, but still - action is low and smooth, intonation crazy stable with minimal high fret distortion, tone quality somewhere between warmth of Martin and brass of Taylor, etc.

I have a number of guitars, but here are my favorites ....... a 1930 Martin OM-18, the first guitar Martin made with 14 frets clear of the body. This one still has the original banjo tuners on it. Unfortunately I sold it last year and still miss it ..... great fingerpicking guitar.

My only electric guitar is a 1964 Fender Telecaster in almost perfect condition. It came out of a closet in Spartanburg many years ago and had not been played much. Still has the original hang tag and cord.

The pre-war Martins are awesome guitars. I still have one pre-war (actually wartime) 00-18 and it sounds pretty good too. One on my friends in North Carolina has two pre-war D45's ''''' only 92 were made. Another friend in Tennessee died a few years back and his estate sold his pre-war 45 for around 400k.

have never played guitar. But at the present time, I am building a 3 string solid body guitar. It will look sorta Tele, sorta Les Paul in shape. I'll be doing a 50s color scheme ( I paint cars ) and should have it finished in a month or so. I'm hoping I can figure out palying just three strings :)
