Everyone keeps faulting Dabo for not taking players from the transfer portal. What players do we think would transfer to Clemson? Sure we lose players who aren't getting playing time they want. But what quality player would leave a top program where they are succeeding to join our team?

I think people are more upset that he’s not even willing to consider the option. Don’t say you will never do something, as a coach he needs to adapt to the ever changing environment that is college football.

On a subpar team/program a really good player would love to come to Clemson. One here and there would build depth and increase effort when you measure that transfer’s hunger to play. You just don’t let Saban bring in five star transfers and you don’t and expect to keep pace.

Plus you use schollies on players that actually can help the team and not use them on 4-6 walk-on players which is such a waste. Sure, use one for a walk-on that ends up great like Renfrow, don't use them on every coaches kid especially when they are making millions and can afford college. And quit recruiting your friends wannabe football player kids. Go get another 8-10 players that are 4* or better. Quit shorting our schollies being used for no star players like Rencher.

Hence the problem with the portal. Group of 5 and lower performing teams are having players poached by larger more successful programs. It is not ok. Coaches may be throwing blows mid field by the time it is said and done for others tampering with their players. The portal and the NIL will both have a hand in the decline in ratings and attendance that is coming for CFB over the next 15 years. That is if no additional restrictions are put in place.

Maybe it is time to pay players, BUT players you get locked under contract if you are paid. This would keep us from losing players.

Why wouldn’t a good player at say TAM or Wisconsin who didn’t get a starting job go to another school? Mellusi left Clemson is starting at Wisky. Jerkovic left ND and started at BC.

Lots of good players just don’t work out at current school and work out fine at another. Saban takes in transfers and starts them over his 5 star recruits. If it helps the team, why not? Other teams will take advantage of it. Puts us at a competitive disadvantage.

Now we are getting a reputation as a non contender with high quality athletes. That sux our players into the portal so they can go to a team where they will get exposure and marketing. Think NIL $$

Dabo continuing to dig in his heels on using the portal is putting his program at a MASSIVE disadvantage. I hate the portal, but if he continues his stubborness it's ultimately going to be negligent and fall directly on him
