Face it, we do not enough talented scorers to win basketball games unless we shoot well. If you are coaching Clemson and you had to draw up a last second play, where would you go? Sims is the choice but of course the other team knows that so who is next? If guys are throwing up bad shots and having off nights, where do you go? A couple of our so called go to guys were 5-18 for the game and Sims was 5-14 so we just did not score. Watching Syracuse on and off was amazing to see their scorers making shots and they are not a good team. You have to put the ball in the basket to win and we just don't have enough guys that can do that on a regular basis.
You hit the nail on the head. Our lads were very inconsistent when shooting the basketball. Honor was not even in the gym last night. We are reluctant to drive the ball to the goal and try to score in traffic. Team looked lethargic in the 2nd half; especially on the boards.
Actually, while last night our shooting was not as good as we would have liked, when you get hammered on the boards (out rebounded) 41-32 by a bunch of "THUGS" acting like basketball players, what do you expect. Yep, Syracuse was also "on and off" last night. I'm only glad we were not playing a real basketball team, say like maybe "Rutgers".
