Poor coaching decisions

Trick plays, eg that ridiculous momentum killing kickoff return, and then DJ punting is just plain STUPID! Coaches get paid $2M for making those decisions? The Tigers should be up over 3 TDS now. We have better players that can beat SC by simply playing sound football. The Playoff was just squandered.

The fumble on the kickoff had nothing to do with the “trick” of the play… it was just a bad play by the returner. And I might also add there was a single defender who held that play from going all the way. He made the play, so hats off to him, but we still would’ve had the ball out around past the 30.
The idea of DJ’s punt is to try and draw them offside (though our clock management made that impossible), and if not get off a kick with no returner back. It worked.

But why does Clemson need to resort to “trick” plays to beat the coots? This offense is just plain soft

We were never going to go for it there (though I suppose there may have been an immediate read given to DJ, but I doubt it). It is situational based on time and down.
And the kickoff huddle is likely the same. We don’t get a chance to return too many kicks when they take place at the normal yard line, but off a safety almost ensured a return opportunity. No harm in giving it a shot. The fumble is just as likely to happen without calling the trick play.

BALL SECURITY was the problem
The Quick kick also worked . If DJ runs to that side and IT'S OPEN, he goes for first down, if not, he just kicks it,without giving Jr good field position . The IQ of some of you guys is down right LAUGHABLE
