Never heard anyone blame Cain before, and i’d Have to disagree

Aug 23, 2018, 10:36 AM

Deon dropped one early ball, and then in the third quarter I defended ripped the ball away in another would be catch. I blame that on KB for under throwing the ball. (Less than 25% on the deep ball, DW was +40%)

The truth is KB was wildly inconsistent throwing down the field all season. Deon Cain had an average night: 6 catches for 75 yards. Let not make stuff up to insulate Kelly Bryant and this coaching staff.

According to several close to the program Cain did not play well in the game. Even on the slant that was picked he didn’t fight for that one. His drop early was huge. He ran wrong routes and his blocking was an issue. Cain was part of the issue, just like everyone else was on offense. No one is insulating Bryant. I was critical of Bryant. I said he didn’t play well and missed reads in passing game and running game. But the blame game could include a bunch of guys on offense in this one.

KB threw a slant against inside leverage...NOBODY is

completing that pass against that coverage...Even if he fought through it, the ball was turning into a tip drill and getting picked...That pass never had a chance of being completed...Pick another nit Mickey, you're in over your head on that one

Throughout the season it was clear Cain was not Mike Williams-esque - and on multiple occasions did not put 120% effort in by laying out and going for the ball on deep passes.

The drop(s) in last year's matchup DID hurt crucial momentum at the time.

Lastly, in CU/BAMA 2016 he unfortunately did not play - coulda been a difference maker (although this is outside the scope of this topic).

KB needed help and he didn’t get it. He’s not DW4, so

... He really, really needed his receivers to make miraculous catches The was Mike Williams and Jordan Legget did for Watson.

Cain et al just didn’t come through for KB ...

Hard for a WR to make a play when KB pulls it down on 3rd

I haven’t heard too much on crouch in a little while and not just as far as clemson, he has seemed to really close down as far as like interviews or talking about his recruitment. Clemson is def right in the thick of it with Crouch and I love it bc I’ve been wanting to land crouch for well over a year now. Thought he would be a beast RB for us last year but as it gets closer I think he will be a LB in college and from what I’ve read he have the potential to be one heck of a LB, he’s just a overall baller and great football player. I really hope we can seal the deal on crouch, would be a great addition to the tiger family. Go Tigers!!

Agree he’d be a nice addition to the team but honestly, If it came down to he and Derrick Hunter, I’d much rather flip Hunter that qc... we could get both but I just hope we get Hunter. Need to shore up that DLine.

KB didn't have the flexibility to change a lot of offensive plays at the line of scrimmage like DW4 did once he saw the defensive alignments.
