I agree and disagree with Plyler here...

Clemson doesn't field enough sports to be competitive in the Directors Cup. He's right about that.

However, I do not think Clemson is at a disadvantage geographically in sports like volleyball. A few of the best players in the nation played right up the road at Dorman and Nation Ford but they all chose to play somewhere else besides Clemson (i.e., Florida, Notre Dame, and Georgia). In fact, none of those players even remotely considered Clemson largely because of Clemson's pattern of hiring a bunch of lousy coaches who were never going to advance the program forward (similar to women's basketball).

If Clemson wants to be competitive again in sports like women's volleyball and basketball, they have stop this pattern of replacing the coach every three or four years largely because the hire was never a good one in the first place. Go out and find the best coach that is available and pay him or her whatever it's going to take to get them here rather than settling on a coach who will accept the position for the money Clemson is willing to pay.

Our womens hoops hires have really frustrated me. It is almost as if we wanted the program to fail. If thats the case just drop it. We sure have to qualms about doing that with mens sports. Othwerwise man up and field a decent team under a solid coach

Our DL has always been a source of great pride and looking at the list of names here one can certainly understand why. Don’t forget - Herschel Walker or George Rogers neither ever scored a TD against Clemson. Can’t wait to watch this year’s version. GO TIGERS!!!
