Please educate me

Dec 13, 2021, 2:24 PM

Why is there no mention on the board of Daniel QB Trent Pearman? If Cade Klubnik has a doppelgänger, it’s Trent. Same size, almost identical per game stats, both with state championship rings, and I believe both are undefeated as starting QB. Not to mention that both are Gatorade Players of the year

Trent makes all the throws and his football IQ appears to be off the charts. He’s a good runner and elusive as all get out when scrambling, yet he keeps his eyes downfield and, more often than not, finds the right man.

Not saying there’s an absolute equivalence between the two; after all, Cade plays in the highest classification in Texas while Trent plays a step below that here in South Carolina. But Trent’s credentials as QB seem to be impeccable.

Is there something lacking in Pearman, or is this a case of a prophet being honored, save in his own land?

I've been wanting us to offer him for a while. That would allow us to immediately move Taylor into the slot. Only thing I can think is Hunter Helms will go on scholly and wise will maybe get one too... Or maybe wiles gets a 1/2 scholly.

They have a couple of good WR’s as well .. that actually jump, go after the ball and can catch it… it would be great to have depth at the QB position.

I haven’t seen him play, but he does have really good stats. Wonder why he doesn’t appear to have any big school offers?

Could it be that everyone just assumes he’ll join his dad at Clemson?

I could be wrong, but...

I think it is foregone conclusion that he is planning to play for Clemson although I believe Bama did offer him as a preferred walk-on.

He has very good size for a dual threat QB.

He has an 84% completion rate.

Really good arm strength and he can throw on the run.

Good footwork and speed

Really good decision making skills

The kid can absolutely play

Could it be, and I'm not familiar with his HS sports, that he's a multi-sport athlete? Many times players that don't attend all the different camps, because they play baseball, basketball, etc, don't get national recruiting status.

This was one of the reasons Patrick Mahomes flew under the radar for most programs.

Great call on this Tiger1616. I actually think that’s something we could focus on in our recruiting to find more diamonds in the rough so to speak. Lot of great athletes are forced to pick one sport long before they get to high school. In some cases, the player happens to live in an area or have parents that don’t buy into that myopic one sport focus. There’s a fair amount that’s been written about the value of playing different sports for physical and mental health reasons. I could see those multi-sport 3* guys being a good fit for Clemson and continuing to develop as they play in college.
