Yes....please support the troops and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice....It means more to us than you know knowing the people of our great country remember and support our brothers and sisters who gave their lives for this country. I have had many friends make that same sacrifice and I thank you for remembering them. (Current Active Duty Marine)

I was there at the end of 3/5's 2010-2011 Afghan tour. I was with 2/8 and my company was attached to 3/5 in Sangin in the green zone. it was a rough place.

I was Lima 3/5 Company Gunny. I remember 2/8

getting there. Nolay, Jamil, Almas, Sangin Badar, Saleb Char, Amoo........that was our footprint. We fought like hell in those 7 months and did our jobs just like Marines do all of the time. Thanks for serving, Devil Dog. You never have to spend a day of your life wondering if you laid it on the line as a Marine Corps 03 grunt. You already know what's up. 0369 and two tour Hat here, now retired and teaching HS in San Jose, CA. I always think of my boys. You may know two of them, Sgt Salinas and Sgt Finney at SOI East.....those two were my boys in Lima 3/5.

Sir... thank you for your service! My Dad (Clemson grad '57) served briefly in the Air Force; my Mom has honored him with an endowment to Clemson ROTC. I (Clemson grad '87) only wish that I could be half the man he was, and half the man that most of the people of your generation were. You all have my deepest respect and gratitude! God Bless You and All who have fought and those who presently fight for our freedom!

Cried.....and me, their instructor, had to leave the room for a moment. God bless that kid and to the father that raised him, thank you on behalf of America. That blew me away.

Its sad because

Not many people celebrate memorial weekend for what its supposed to be, people just use it for an excuse to go on vacation

Screw Calford.

Amen. "Thank You Eddie Hart" is a mandatory viewing

in case you have not seen it. One of the most moving documentaries I've ever seen of how our Veterans are appreciated by those liberated in another country. It should be donated or owned to our Country for all to freely see. http://www.wetbirdproductions.com/films-tyeh.php

Here is one that will blow your mind if you want to see how close we really were to the Cold War torching off the end of the world. The great mystery is how it Didn't happen. https://archive.org/details/TheFogOfWarElevenLessonsFromTheLifeOfRobertS.Mcnamara

Watch both. I dare you. You will be glad you did.

Watch the 1st one most importantly. "... in 1946, she adopted the grave of an American soldier who was buried near her hometown in Holland, promising to visit several times a year and take fresh flowers. She told me she made this commitment because she was so grateful to the American military for fighting for and returning her freedom after four long, hard years of Nazi occupation." They still honor the practice to this very day.
