Playoffs. Here is what I know for sure.

1. Lose to Miami = no playoff bid.
2. Lose to coots = no playoff bid.
3. Lose to UNC = no playoff bid.
That's all I know.
Control the controllables. Don't dwell on what you cannot control.
(That is great for coaches and players. But, as fans we obsess on things we can't control. That is what we do; that is who we are. ?♂️ )

BretFSU - that is a nice thought, but far too much would have to happen!
In other years where we looked impressive; but for the one game: "yeah"!
Because of our offensive and occasional defensive struggles: "I think a couple of other teams likely get the nod before us"!
I hope: "hope I am wrong and our offense and defense just put it all together late in the season to where they live up to their potential"! But, unfortunately, that isn't what I have seen.
There is always a chance though. As a Tigers fan since 1975 all I can say is: "no matter what, I will be there rooting for the Tigers"!

If you win your conference in any sport that has a playoff then you should be in the playoff!

When you only have 4 slots for 130 teams to compete to get in the playoffs, ranking of the top 4 teams in the country is more important than being a conference champion. If 3 of the 4 best teams happen to be in one conference then under the current system those are 3 teams that will be selected for the playoffs. That is why they use a ranking system and not a system with automatic bids for conference champions.
This will get a little better when we ultimately go to a 12-team playoff but for now, this is what we have.

Imo, we are not playoff quality if someone has to lose for us to get a seed. Imo, we are not PO quality no matter what happens as long as DJ is behind center.

1. We should win the rest of our games, but we needed a clean slate with three other conference champions potentially finishing 13-0. Four undefeated teams made the selection process easy.
2. Ten teams are listed on the ESPN playoff predictor that have a shot at the playoffs. We're the sixth team. #2 or #3 will lose to the other, so that improves us to potentially fifth?
3. TCU has to lose to open the door for us AND Tennessee to get in. Otherwise, just Tennessee gets in.
4. At the risk of being called a coot, going from my head and not my heart, there are seven teams better than us in this list. We'd beat Utah and Southern Cal. This is an off-year for Alabama, but I feel like we'd play them close and lose on the last drive. LSU? depends on which LSU shows up.

I believe that our best "path to the playoffs" exists for 2023... not for 2022. This team is not quite ready for prime time, IMO. That said, I would like to see us start looking to the future NOW.
