Players who pick up Offers from schools late in the process

Jan 8, 2022, 9:08 PM

It's got to be a really hard decision..
Like the Andrew Pual situation....
Clemson offered Him just recently and I'm positive getting a offer from a top notch program like ours is amazing....however he has programs that may be lesser caliber than ours but have been showing him love for years and was appreciative of his talents when other schools wasnt..

To me it would be a incredibly hard choice to make...

The huge program that decided to offer me once they missed on the bigger fish...BUT I could win and play for a top 2 coach in cfb and a top 2 program in the world

Vs

The lesser caliber program that's been there showing me love and treating me like a number 1 option for years and get to go play right away....

This has to be incredibly hard

Based on personal experience, if they visit Clemson it’s not a hard decision to choose to come to Clemson.

Unless it’s complicated by things like mama/family and ??????.

@tiger_swimmer

I agree Clemson is amazing....
Given the choice, I would select Clemson everytime...

But think about it from our programs culture...we want players that are ALL IN...we want players that love Clemson and our culture from the start and we want players that want to be here, choose to be here then close everyone else out.

Now use that in a player like Paul's situation....and he has had teams that were ALL IN on him from day 1...that when Clemson, bama etc etc were chasing higher touted players and didn't care enough about him to offer, other schools made him their number 1 priority....and treated him like the husband and their future...instead of the rebound dude...

It's tough

He's gotten a lot of big offers in the last month and a half. It's not just Clemson. I don't know how other teams handle it but pretty sure Dabo is up front about where a recruit is in the queue at a particular position. See the Andre Greene and Antonio Williams situation.

Honestly based on the CFB situation you may start seeing 3 high 3 and 4 stars wait until after the early signing day to see who offers after things shake our.

Colorado. I'd say even at this point it's between us and Colorado. I don't think he has any other visits planned. Could be wrong though.

I guess it’s hard if you’re not an athlete. These kids who are getting offered by FCS schools tend to commit last because they’re holding out for an FBS offer.

It’s simple really. Every kid thinks they’re better than they are and/or wants a chance to prove themselves at the best school possible.

We will see, I hope we land him....
If not, I completely understand why and wish him the best

The lesser schools know it’s best for them

To come somewhere amazing if possible. For example, Reader was committed to MD until like a week before signing day. We needed another DT and nabbed him very late. But I doubt he has a long NFL career without the development he got here.

Dabo is a man of faith looking for young men of faith to become a part of Clemson. Faith in Travis ETN and his faith in the Tigers back in 2017 worked out pretty well for both. If Dabo can add a couple late offers now, who knows?
