Play of the Game from NCSU?

Oct 3, 2022, 2:31 PM

Lots of great plays, key plays, but I'd have to narrow it down to one of two:

Ship's long pass catch down the sideline that put us on the goal line before the half, since it led to us pulling ahead before the end of the half

or

MY PICK: The monster sack on Leary by Barrett Carter at the beginning of the 2nd half. Game changer. NCSU was looking to drive down and pull back ahead since they started with the ball in the 2nd half. A scoring drive would have changed momentum and hyped them up, but I think that sack rattled Leary and really jacked up our whole team. Took them from a 1st and 10 to a 2nd and 18. They threw an incomplete pass on 2nd down, got sacked again on 3rd down, and punted for a 3 and out to start the half. I think that monster opening half sack really set the stage for the rest of the game.

Still have no idea how Leary held onto the ball

I agree. Looked like he may have had a guy open down the right side if he'd been able to get the ball away. That was just a crazy good hit - clean, hard, and totally legal.

I think Leary's momma felt that one!

Dabo speaks extremely highly of Barrett Carter. He said he’s an incredible athlete and can play multiple positions very well. He also said he’s one of if not the best all -around athlete we’ve ever had at Clemson.

Any mother would feel for their son getting pounded like that, I don't know him, and it caused me to ache!!!:)

The TD right before the half...

followed by the score on the bootleg by DJ that put Clemson up by three scores.

Even then, the official were still trying to help Nancy State move the ball down the field.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

It makes me wonder if the money Swofford made from ND playing one FB season in the ACC, if that's what he is using to keep the refs North Carolina friendly!!!!

Both great plays on their own, but as you say, the timing of the great plays were spot-on. The fact was that we made the plays that needed to be made, when they needed to be made, and they failed time after time. Good post.

All good but I most enjoyed the INT.***

It may be overlooked but I really enjoyed seeing Pride get that interception (led to points, if I recall) and Wiggins getting a key pass breakup on 3rd down in the 4th. Nice way to respond after a tough afternoon vs Hartman & Company.
