That's a big part of the reason Neff came out so strong for Brownell was to keep the team on board for next year. Duh.

Somehow, I don't think this move indicates the team is his priority right now. And I don't blame him. He should watch out for himself and move on if the right situation plays out for him.

I am thinking Neff moved quickly to get ahead of the Hall not coming back next year. It would have been hard for Neff to justify another year with Tyson, Galloway, and Hall leaving. If I am a pro scout and want a 6'10" three point shooter like a Robert Horry then I certainly take a chance on Hall. If I am Hall, then I may get lucky that someone wants a Kevin Love type . Either way its not a no brainer he is coming back.

Totally agree. So much for keeping BB so PJ returns. I shudder to think about next season without PJ.

I suspect that Hall will indeed come back next year after testing the market, but your reasoning does make more logical sense than the OPs!
I really don't think Neff's decision had much of anything to do with whether or not 1 player is coming back or not.

PJ's value is his ability to play inside out with great touch for such a big body. He's also got great instincts around the boards.

It’s like no one has ever seen players take advantage of getting feedback on what to work on through this process. To my recollection, they’ve all returned for the next season.
