PJ Hall

Jun 3, 2022, 11:24 AM

Ran into this nice young Clemson Man in the grocery store this morning. Said he got the boot off his foot yesterday and it feels good. Not running yet but taking “baby steps” for now. He seemed positive and it sounded like good news to me.

Great news. Thanks for sharing. Hall is one of those rare players that just defines what I love best about Clemson athletics.

Hall reminds me a lot of a "hometown hero" basketball

player from back in my day, Bamberg-Ehrhardt's own Wayne Croft. But, it took Wayne until about his senior year at Clemson to remake his body and his game enough to be an adequate ACC basketball player. PJ Hall made that jump in only a year.

That's what good coaching will do.

i dont recall Wayne that much

Jun 3, 2022, 12:04 PM

In what years did he play ?

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He played with Tree in mid 70's.***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We must have had good coaching in the mid 70's

Jun 3, 2022, 12:32 PM

Or at least during Wayne's last year anyway

Wayne had Tates Locke and Bill Foster as coach. I was there sitting in the rebel rouser seats, student section right behind the bench. Great memories.

I always wanted to know, just what did it take to get in

Jun 3, 2022, 6:41 PM

those seats? No matter HOW early I ever got to a game, they were already full. I figured it was a snooty "Greek Life" frat thing, like them always being first in line for student football tickets back in the day.

Nope...it wasn't a "frat thing"...I never was a friggin frat

Jun 3, 2022, 11:03 PM

and I sat on the front row of those old bleachers several times. I was right behind Frank McGuire of Usuc one of those nights, and Sandy Edge, who years later became head of the ROTC, walked up to McGuire and handed him a white "crying towel".

I know, right ! ? ! ? Imagine how much

Jun 3, 2022, 12:48 PM [ in reply to That's what good coaching will do. ]

further along PJ would be if he HAD any good coaching while at Clemson . . . . hard to imagine.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

Played with the Snake at Walterboro his sophomore year. He was only 6'8"thjen and hard for those of us, who were under 6', to block because he would step over us at the usual blocking level.

He is a stud and if he is well, we will have a good year.

Did he elude to where he might be transferring?

No. This was a conversation between two optimists. Didn’t see the sky falling anywhere around us.
