Sep 17, 2020, 8:02 PM

That's because he was using ideal, linear, values and didn't take into account the headwind (like when he says it reached it's peak half way of the kick.

I'm sure you did it more exactly.

What kind of Shyatt are they teaching at Clemson now?! I didn’t understand any of that math. But I am down with 69. ??????

Class of '87

I think it is common core

... but it could just be book-learning.

But would it have cleared the crossbar?***

Gee... that can't be Clemson Physics, I didn't see him use any calculus. Or is this the "new math" my parents used to talk about when they couldn't help me with my homework? I used to try and help my own children, but they'd tell me, "oh, dad, that's not the way we're supposed to do it!" Of course not, I used to use a slide rule...

Go Tigers!!!

Yessir - they started out saying it went 72 yards total...***

Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusing and reality becomes illusion.

Dang. 69 yards! That’s a weapon!

If he can kick a 69 yarder I hope they let him try it if we are up big.

Sep 17, 2020, 9:48 PM

That would tie the college record.

the use of 9.81 for acceleration is not realistic. This is a number for acceleration in a vaccuum. It's not that hard to estimate based on true wind resistance, something like 15-20% off of that value. This should have been done here.

Now I know why I never took Physics when I was at Clemson!

It is definitely a fun video. Mathematically, it isn't exactly accurate. But, folks, lighten up. It wasn't supposed to be. It was a fun video taped for Clemson fans.

I'm sure that in a day or two there will be a video on 11warriors.com when some Ohio State nerd points out just how "stupid those Clemson scholars are" and give his explanation of the exact length it would have cleared the crossbar.

He will have missed the point of the video completely and got sucked in.
