Phoenix Hotel - Where is Best for Game?

Dec 4, 2016, 9:28 AM

Booked my flight. For anyone who made the trip last year - where's the best place to stay? Downtown Phoenix? Closer to the stadium in Glendale?

Stayed at Arizona Grand Resort last year. Pricey, but very nice. Plus, we don't have the chance to take a trip like that often.

Stayed in Scottsdale. Buses were available from a few hotels in Scottsdale to Glendale and back. About 45 minutes-hour ride. Scottsdale was nice: plenty of restaurants and bars. I think it was a Hilton garden inn or something.

Las Palmes Inn

You can get on one room for $25 or two for $40. I believe they accept hourly rates as well. Be wary of talking to any women in the parking lot bc they're most likely undercover cops and entrapment is common. There used to be a pool of sorts but resembled more of a concrete drainage ditch. It's usually dry unless it rains. The rooms have beds, running water, and you can smoke in them. Smoke anything, which you can get in the parking lot. The manager is nice but real curious. One morning I awoke to find him staring at me through the blinds. I guess he was just making sure everything was alright, bc he stood there for two hours. When I left to get something to eat he followed me and waited in the parking lot for a bit. When I got back to the room I found him in my bed, which was peculiar. But he said he was just making sure the sheets were cosy enough for me, which was a nice gesture. He then even offered me money to stay in his room, but I said I shouldn't impose. I highly recommend the Led Palmes Inn.

The bars around the stadium are ridiculous. Wife and I ordered a blue moon and a Miller lite. Bartender handed us the bears and said "that'll be $30". I said what what what.

Scottsdale, without a doubt. Tons of bars and restaurants and can walk everywhere. The bars were all set up to cater to Bama and Tiger fans last year.

Scottsdale is far from Glendale, but Glendale is pretty much a wasteland except for the stadium, so no need to stay out there. Everything is far from Glendale. Phoenix is huge and spread out, but easy to get navigate. It is just a giant, flat grid.

Tempe would be your next option, near ASU. Also walkable.

Rental cars were surprisingly cheap. I think I got mine for something like $17/day.

Scottsdale hands down. The whole town was orange last year. Beautiful area and centrally located Hike camelback mountain highly recommended

Renaissance at Westgate is a walk to the stadium.

But major league bucks. Don't get excited about the Desert Diamond Casino next door: one-arm bandits only and no tables. No alcohol.
