There are a few around Clemson but go to Brevard NC 1hr or so away

Swing into The Hub or Sycamore Cycles bear entrancr to Pisgah. They will steer you right.

Great trails between North Augusta and Clarks Hill

36 miles of flowing trails. Forks Area Trail System (FATS) is the name.

Fats is on my bucket list.***

I went to Issaqueena on Monday and to Conestee park today.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Conastee is NOT a mnt bike trail.

Perfect time of year to ride

Apr 4, 2018, 9:54 PM

Good for you on getting a bike. You're lucky, you've got more single trac within 15 minutes than most people have within an hour. Fants grove and Issaquenna both can provide you with a full day or riding. They are fun but arent dedicated mtn biking trails. If you're really ready to have fun, take the 1.5 hr drive to DuPont state rec trails outside Brevard. Have fun.

good recommendations there...Oconee State Park above

Walhalla is good too. Easier drive than going to Clarks Hill.

I love the Clemson Forest trail system.

Apr 4, 2018, 10:44 PM

I ride it 3 or 4 times a week.

Road cyclist who rides some MB...Dupont has a wide range

of difficulty and extensive trail system. I'm sure Pisgah has some easy to intermediate, but definitely has the most extreme by reputation. Pleasant Ridge is a great 5 mile loop, Paris is pretty worn and technical. Did just a couple of hours at Isaqueena and will be back (ride some and then use a day pass at Fike for a shower before a baseball game.)

I normally don’t like to give up my secret stashes

Apr 5, 2018, 12:10 AM

But Payne’s Creek in Hartwell, GA is some of the best riding I’ve done outside of Lake Norman State Park in Mooresville, NC. I have yet to brave dupont or pisgah tho ??

I have been to Paynes Creek also nkickha.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You might try Dupont Forest

Apr 5, 2018, 7:36 AM

It's a beautiful place.

And the Virginia Creeper is not as much a mountain bike trail, but you'll never forget riding down to Damascus from White Top Mountain. It's gorgeous.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The clemson experimental forest has about 25 miles

Apr 5, 2018, 7:38 AM

Of trails...hunter arrow is my favorite, about a 5 mile loop..some climbing, little technical areas. The grinder is my least favorite and almost killed me. The forest is roughly 6 miles from bowman field.

There are a few trails at Paris mountain in greenville...you can put together a 10 mile loop if you start at Lake placid and then circle the reservoir. Major climbing on sulfur springs.

A jfa trail near TR, it just over 4 miles...decent moderate level loop.

Croft st park near dominant high school. If you do the Southside loop, you can get in about 11 miles.

The best and most variety is at dupont.

What bike did you buy?
