Path to rematch with Pitt.....

It's a little clearer now after the N.C. State loss what would have to happen to open the door for Clemson to creep back into the ACC championship game. The path is very narrow at this point...but it does exist.
Clemson would need to win out....over FSU, at Louisville and Wake to finish 6-2. I think this is a fairly difficult thing to plan on at this point. But it's not impossible...we tend to find ways to win at home. And we usually find ways to win at Louisville.
N.C. State is now 2-1 with 5 games left...
These five games are Louisville, at FSU, at Wake, Cuse, UNC...
At this point, they are probably the best option for handing Wake a loss. But if that is they case they would need to lose 2 other games as they would hold tiebreaker over us and Wake. They could certainly drop 2 of the other games. It's just what they tend to do. Really need them to finish 5-3.
Wake is 4-0 with 4 games left...
Duke, N.C. State, at Clemson, at Boston College
As will have to be noted a zillion times, their game with UNC is a non-conference game that has no bearing on the standings. We'll at least know where we stand after the next 2 weeks while Wake plays Duke & UNC. Duke is a no-go. So it seems to me that Wake losing to NCSU and NCSU dropping 2 other games is probably the only way this happens. The only other option is Wake losing to us and then at BC. Not impossible...but not likely.
It seems to me that Wake is in the driver's seat in a big way. But stranger things have happened.
If somehow we did make it....it looks like Pitt would likely be there.

Forget ACC Championship game talk and what has to happen to other teams in order for the Tigers get to Charlotte because at this point we just need to win games period and hopefully scoring 20 or more points for a change

Step one give Puma starter reps this week so we can actually win a game.

Since you seem to have this all figured out, maybe you can devise a game plan for beating Louisville because right now that is the only game that matters.

Hmmm? I guess the next game with FSU doesn’t matter, because isn’t that the next game?

You really want a rematch? Frankly I thought we did better than expected with our talent on offense. 28-10 was my pregame predictuon

I think it will be Pitt and Clemson in the championship game. Wake has a very difficult road left. State is not done losing. Clemson has a very favorable schedule ahead. I think that’s the way it will play out.

We are not an championship caliber team...

No shame or lack of fandom in admitting that fact. After 7 games "we are what we are" and the odds favor we will struggle offensively in every game remaining on our schedule with the lone exception being UConn. I surely hope we win out but even if we do it is extremely doubtful we make it to the ACC Champ game.
I just hope we can keep our home winning streak in tact. We owe FSU a severe beating for that stunt they pulled last year. Unfortunately between the injuries and the overall "funk" that has descended on this program we will have to fight like #### to just get a one point win over FSU.
Our final home game this year against Wake Forest will probably be our toughest ACC game of the year. Wake's offense is rolling right now and can score a ton of points. They are more experienced and have better players at the QB and receiver position than us. This is not the typical Wake Forest team as they are very mature roster with a ton of super seniors (they returned 20 out of 22 starters on both sides of the ball from last year). Wake is not going to roll into Death Valley and be in awe of our roster or our playing environment. We will have to play our best game of the year to beat them.

We’re one of the worst teams in the country. Wouldn’t worry about Charlotte. Just hope we can beat UConn and the Dirtpeckers at this point

The path is patience. We will play them again in a year or two or three.

As you said, it is still mathematically possible. But, for

that to happen, we would not only have to be a team we haven't been ALL SEASON, for the rest of the season, but Wake AND Nancy's Tate would both have to have near total collapses in just the right way. I have seen posts just like this, pretty much every year. Where have I seen them? On the Cooterville Gazette message boards, otherwise known as FGF. Don't be a plagiarist from the Cooterville Gazette.
I, for one, am more than willing at this point for Dabo to mix and match new starters at EVERY position the rest of the way, to find out who can actually take it from the practice field to gameday. Because, if what he says is in any way remotely true, this particular team practices one heyall of a lot better than they play. That has not been a problem in the past, at least not recently.
We need to find out who is going to be a leader going forward. We will have significant personnel turnover on defense especially, with all the "Super Seniors" gone. And as always, there will be defections and a few who might declare early for the draft, although who they might be off this years team is foggy at this point.
So, in a nut sac, we find ourselves in turmoil going into the off season, someplace we have not been since at least 2011. I have every confidence that Dabo will make moves as HE sees them necessary. Whether he makes the right ones will not be proven out until the games begin next year. It's gonna be a long off season, and a probable bumpy end to this season before we get there.
Butt, we are not doomed. We are still Clemson, and there is still something in these hills. We just have to find it again.

I like the optimism and it is still possible to make the ACCCG, but I think the likelihood that Stormy Daniels becomes a nun is more probable than the Tigers playing for the ACC Championship this year. We're 7 games into this season and this is a very bad offensive football team. I wish it weren't so, but the stats do not lie. However, I am pulling hard for the team.
