Out of the box thinking for ACC expansion…

Jul 22, 2021, 11:35 PM

Forget WVU and their ilk…

Forget ND…let them rot away as an independent….

Go after Ohio State and Penn State…

Or create a new conference that is some combination of the Big Ten and ACC…

Ohio State and Penn State make as much geographic sense as Boston College and Syracuse…

You can’t counter an OU/Texas move by just getting enough teams to be 26..

16 not 26- Oops

If the super conferences happen, big 10 and acc

Will mix somehow.

I can see all big 10 achools starting with Michigan and Ohio St going east join with acc schools, those west to big12\pac10.

There's no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people who ask questions.

Or another way to look at it, maybe SOME ACC schools and some PAC join Big Whatever?

Ohio State and Penn State ain't leaving the Big10 to join the ACC. There is no financial reason for the move. As much as they hate one another Oh.St. is not going anywhere without their rival Michigan in tow.

BC and Syracuse have never been a good fit for the ACC and I wish we could trade them for some more southern schools like UCF and USF.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

USF and ucf make more sense than Weak Florist and syracuse

Jul 23, 2021, 11:51 AM

and BC and maybe Pitt . . . .

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

I disagree.. WVU has always seemed like good Fit..

Jul 23, 2021, 9:04 AM

not sure what happened when there were talks of realignment. Syracuse and BC should have been in the BIG 10. NEbraska should have stayed in the BIG12. And i could care less about Maryland. Should be ND and WVU and call it quits. WVU has success in football and basketball and they travel well as a fan base.Plus we have all the big Virginia area schools so why not add another. But the northeast is Big10 country. Give those back.

Even though money is a very important deciding factor (athletically), I believe the ACC has also stood strong with the academic fit of a potential addition of a school. West Virginia doesn't cut it academically. I would vote for ND and Penn State (Penn State unlikely to leave Big10)

I remember that being the argument then they panicked and

ended up letting Louisville in which many said their academic standards or about the same as WVU's. I think we went into the negotiations with our noses stuck in the air and almost got left behind like the Big 12 did.

Agreed. Give Syracuse and Boston college away. Pick up WVU and Texas A&M. I think the opportunity for A&M not having to play Alabama every year would be appealing to them.

I think you would be better at targeting the SEC teams over 31-0 or Pedo-State

You could lol, land Vandy and Tennessee into the ACC more easily. Vandy due to academics and better chance at not being a bottom dweller. Tennessee as a means to rebuild without a beatdown. They get to be a big fish. Will it happen, of course not. But going after them is easier than targeting the two biggest, and nearly the most wealthy, high-value targets of the B10

Make a run at aTm…

Indications are that the SEC had Texas talks and intentionally excluded aTm…

Also it seems this violates a gentlemen’s agreement that aTm would be the only SEC member in Texas….

What a twist if aTm takes there ball and goes home…leaves the SEC…

Put aTm in a division opposite Clemson ..

College Station is actually closer to Clemson (barely - but still) than Boston is….

I agree. A&M could be a possibility since their pride has been hurt. Go get them and ND and you would be able to get a new deal with ESPN.

Sorry, but the Big Ten is better than the ACC. I think Clemson would need to move.

The top 2 conferences are the SEC and Big Ten. Then ACC/PAC-12. That's just facts.

OK . . . facts . . . . good grief.***

Out of the box -criticize WV academics?
So where did our college president last serve as president?

the ACC will down for eternity? Whether you like it or not, this NIL thing is about to be a gamechanger for Florida teams. Miami and FSU will get a huge bump in the next 2-5 years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Out of the box - but maybe not impossible..

Jul 23, 2021, 4:51 PM

What about aTm and Baylor to the ACC?

Nice way for aTm to tell off the SEC…
