I don't understand how we can't go RECRUIT one guy out of HS that can consistently put it in the endzone. Recruit one good one, and you get him for 3-4 (probably 4) years. We seem to like letting lightly recruited/walk-ons take the role there

Same here. If he doesn't have it in the leg I would rather kick higher shorter kicks so the coverage team can get down there. Would rather them start at the 30 all night than our side of the field

The first half of the season, he did pretty good job of kicking the ball deep. However, as the season has progressed, his kicks are getting shorter and shorter. It might have to do with the weather as you tend to be able to kick the ball further in hotter weather.
I wouldn't expect an improvement with a 50 degree kickoff temp in Tampa.

I agree if the first kickoff is anything close to breaking it all the way and near midfield, either kick the rest short and high or just kick it out of bounds....at least make them go 65 yards at worse.

I don't think it's the weather/temp. He was kicking last week inside a dome in the desert and still struggled kicking it deep. I think we are better kicking high and short between the hash and sideline. We only have to cover half the filed and it gets defenders more quickly to the ball. The preference is to kick out the back of the endzone with no return but we haven't consistently done that all year.

Germans but..
We kick it short because Dabo thinks we can get a tackle inside the 25. Worth the risk? Probably not against Alabama. Gotta trust the D on this one and not the SPT
