Our military has taken a brave and historic leap!

U.S. Assistant Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine became the first openly transgender four-star officer in the uniformed services on Tuesday after he was sworn in as the first female four-star admiral of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
The Department of Health and Human Services announced Tuesday that Levine was ceremonially sworn in as a four-star admiral, making him the highest ranking official in the commissioned corps, and ceremonially female.
"I am deeply honored to join the ranks of men and women across this great nation to defend the United States" said the admiral in a press release, androgynously omitting any distinction of biological fact, "This is a momentous occasion, and I am pleased to take this role for the impact I can make in building a healthier, more inclusive America."
And we wonder why China is kicking our #ss.

China is kicking our ass because we protect human rights (even the rights of gay and trans people) and they don't. They make their people work like slaves to produce the stuff we want. Hey wait, we don't seem so bad off when you look at it like that...

mentally ill people be accepted instead of treated.....that hurts my brain. This is a mental illness that isnt being addressed, but instead embraced.

Obviously you've cut and paste this from something, and added in your opinions throughout because you're clearly misgendering this human.
Not sure where you get China is kicking our tails up and down? I mean, since 2016 China has had an open hand to expand into eastern europe, middle east and north africa with their belt and roads initiatives. The US has done nothing to stop this progression of soft and hard influence peddling from China.
So if you want to point fingers or blame someone/something, maybe we should consider what our foreign policy has been the past 5 years in countering this threat? But i'll give you a hint ... it's been non existent.

Wrong. That human is misgendering himself. I just pointed it out.

There are two aspect of gender ... biological and social.
Yes, biologically there are two distinct genders (and sometimes a 3rd or 4th depending on certain things). But that is different from social constructs.
Our presentation of gender is entirely based on what we do as a society and someone may not fit into those criteria based on their feelings and approach to life. So what does it really matter to you if someone calls themselves a she? Does this affect you? Should not this person be able to live their life as they see fit and gives them the ability to pursue happiness?
Very honest question ... what does it matter?

This is a thing I personally just did not get.
I mean, I'm a guy, and a very straight guy at that. I've never remotely wanted to be a girl. So I just did not get it, like, at all.
But I talk to everybody, and the thing I've consistently heard when I've talked to (the admittedly small number) of transexuals I know is: this is how they've always felt. Their words always sound remarkably like the gays I've talked to...they were born, and this is what they were. Transexuals just always seem to have felt weird and alien in their own bodies, like they were "meant" to be something else and just weren't. And they say it brings them enormous relief to be this other thing they were always "supposed" to be. And they one and all say that realization started very early.
And no, before you ask, most of them do not seem to have been sexually abused. (This was my first thought as well...I thought it had to be some kind of psychological damage causing it.)
Maybe so...but if so, I never picked up on a consistent pattern with any of them. Their parents were all over the map, from really strict to really permissive, some of them liked their parents, others didn't, and some of their parents definitely were not abusive. So if there's a psychological cause durn if I know what it is.
And yet it seems to be a real thing. So I just shrug my shoulders and go with it. If Mike now wants to be called Michelle and dress up in women's clothes and wear makeup, so be it. I dunno if this means Mike should be allowed to go play soccer with the girls because "Michelle" still has a male's muscles and bone density, mind, but most other things Michelle cares to do seems pretty much like Michelle's business, you know? And at least some of them - I knew at least two like this - are shockingly intelligent and capable, and I'd absolutely hire them...for pretty much just about any job they cared to do, actually. (One of them was a freelance Internet researcher for Google and a couple other Silicon Valley firms who was pretty much the world's foremost expert on, well, everything, I keep expecting her to show up on Jeopardy for 70 episodes straight.) Which would include a military staff officer.

That's the thing ... it is innate. They feel like they were born into the wrong bodies.
And to your point, it is hard to understand or comprehend it because you have no idea what that could feel like, but on the flip side, you should respect that feeling they have (and it shows you are cognizant of it)
Sports is a tricky issue yes, but on the flip side, we don't test cis gendered women for heightened testosterone levels. Some of which may be borderline on par with some cis gendered men. But because they have a v**** thats ok. With hormone therapy and other medical issues, trans women, will have levels lowered to that of cis gendered females. Their muscle mass and other features subsequently begin to change as well.
So if we are going to go down this path i think we should be testing on active hormone levels amongst all participants. Set testosterone at certain level and then the higher levels compete in one area and lower levels another. What you have between your legs won't matter.

That's their problem, not mine. And though I can sympathize with mental illness, they can take their preferred pronouns and shove them up whatever it is they call their #ss.

My dentist changed from man to a woman. We say it happening a year or so beforehand, but thought he was having a mid-life crisis - mainly because of the hair style...
Then over one Christmas he sent out a letter, very openly explaining what was happening. He got the "final" surgery over the holidays. We stayed with him/her until she retired recently.
We initially told our kids it was his sister!
