Saw a post Saturday on SoonerScoop.com. Said simply, "Bret is not the guy."

I told those sooners when they were so happy about BV being hired back from Clemson, that BV wouldn't be coaching the D, and that's bc they were not hiring a DC, he was to be their HC, and he has never proven that he can be a successful HC, and that's like buying gold sealed in a can, you don't know what's really in the can, it was a huge risk for a big time FB program!!!
IMO, BV gave up a dream job at Clemson where he would've made more money during his career at Clemson, than he will as HC at Oklahomo if he don't make it!!! Being the boss is good if you're really good at being the boss. If he would have had his eyes wide open, maybe he would have remembered that he was his own boss at Clemson, bc Dabo tuned that side of our FB program over to BV to do as please, and he ran away from it for a chance to take a huge risk. There are always those times in a persons life where they must stop, look around, then continue in the direction that you know has been a very good road to travel down, as it was with BV as the DC at Clemson, and winning at the highest level.
I had a really good friend once that loved climbing, and I knew all about it other than doing it, and he tried many times to get me to give it a try, and I always said that it sounds simple enough, but I feel more secure standing on the flat surface of the ground bc God didn't give me any wings, and he just laughed about my response. He, and his mountain climbing friends went out to Utah for a climb in 1982, and I never seen his bright smiling face again bc, he was so messed up from his fall, that it was closed casket funeral. There is always a time when people consider trying something else and moving away from what they have always been really good at, and most of the time they will fail, and if BV fails at Oklahomo, he will never forget that he ran away from a dream Job at Clemson where he and his family were truly loved, and respected, but that dream job is gone!!!

Has OU had a defense in the last decade? I don’t remember it. He’s supposed to fix that in 9 months? With what? Is his middle name Merlin? Here’s an idea, how about if the rest of the world stops explaining the obvious to idiots? Let’s just go back to patting them on the head and handing them a crust of bread.

Actually, their solution is very simple. All they have to do is go to the airport, the morning’s of home games. Hand an “OU Bagman” application to everyone that gets off a private jet. They’ll find plenty that fit the bill.

No reasonable person should expect instant success. Give BV a chance. I think he’ll do well!

Agreed. We will know for sure by year 2, or 3.
While I don't think this is the case with BV, I'm often reminded of the Peter Principle. In summary it says if you perform well in your job, you will likely be promoted to the next level of your organization's hierarchy. You will continue to rise up the ladder until you reach the point where you can no longer perform well.
I think BV's organized and smart enough to be very successful as a head coach, with the RIGHT defensive coordinator. Imagine being the DC for him! Tough job, for sure.

Lol! “Cities with the most expensive homes in OK.” That must mean some really fancy trailer parks, double and triple wides.
