OT...weekend in Nashville advice needed

Aug 29, 2021, 9:25 AM

Morning. Will be driving up from Georgia to Nashville next weekend. Never been so hoping to get some advice. Will be with my 2 teenagers 13 and 16. Staying downtown and the only think we have planned is going to the US Mens National team soccer game Sunday night.

Obviously with my kids we won't bar hop or anything but would still love to get a flavor for the town. Any recomendations with activities, restaurants ,etc?. Somebody told me Acme is a good place to eat with music. Thanks!!

Live music is everywhere in downtown Nashville.

Assembly Food Hall was recently opened on 5th and Broadway and they have many choices and live music too.

I’d tour the Ryman or even see a show if you can.

If you can get to the Gaylord Hotel, you can walk around it. It sounds odd but trust me, you will enjoy it.

If you have time, hit the Loveless Cafe.

Good luck. Welcome to Nashville.

Rynan is a must see… and we went to the original recording studio of Elvis and Dolly. That was cool! Went to the rooftop area at one place (it is a bar but they let kids in) Tootsies and they had a band there that was great. Jason Aldeans is good too.

And the chicken biscuit place (Biscuit Love) in the gulch is good, but the line is killer. They have these types of biscuit places here in Alpharetta, GA so I liked my first experience in Nashville, but now can get it anytime.

We stayed one night at the Gaylord and one in downtown Nashville. Went to a grand ole opry show too. Saw the Parthenon replica too. It is neat they did that and learned about the original more touring that.

We took half a day before coming back to go tour Andrew Jackson Hermitage estate too. That gave me chills!

The station inn was the gem though.

If you like music, try to get in the Bluebird Cafe. You will need to get in line a couple of hours ahead of time to have a chance getting in but definitely worth it. Took my kids when we went.

You should just be able to walk down Broadway and get your fill of music. There is so much talent playing on the street it’s amazing.

My kids did like Country Music Hall of Fame (even though they are not fans of country music) and visiting they liked visiting the Grand Ole Oprah and Hotel. We didn’t stay in the hotel but it is impressive to walk around in.

Most all local music halls(bars) are family friendly during daytime hours(b4 4). Lots to experience downtown. Enjoy. And I almost forgot Pucketts, great breakfast if you can get in b4 lunch.

Check this place out…

https://www.stationinn.com/

We went to their free music jam night (a lot of bluegrass) and saw performers who were playing the music at the Grand Ole Opry the night before… it was cool. But it is free, so get there early to get in. We ate at a place across the way while waiting for it to open the doors. They have food and drink there too (pizza, beer, soft drinks). Respectful audience too.

Looks like a hole in the wall though. Just a rare gem a little off the beaten path that the regulars know about.

Definitely try biscuit love in the gulch for breakfast. Make sure you get there early! That whole area, the gulch is pretty nice.

Martin's BBQ on 4th Ave S, about 3 blocks away from Broadway. Very good, tho not like SC BBQ.

For breakfast, I would highly recommend the Sun Diner on 3rd Ave S, a half block from Broadway and right next door to the Johnny Cash museum. Very historic, nice portions, and reasonably priced.

Ryman Auditorium and The Country Music HOF and Museum are nice sights to see.

There is also a Top Golf about 10 minutes from downtown, if you are into that sort of thing.

Have fun!!

You could always take in a show at the Grand Ole Opry...
