Live in the Upstate and looking for a quick 3 day getaway from here. Been dealing with some family drama and illness so wife and i looking to get away for a few days. Thoughts on a great place within driving distance/short flight from Gville? Looking at a Thurs-Sun type deal.

If you go to Asheville pay the extra for the private tour of the Biltmore House.

Just go to a hotel across town, lock the door, unplug the TV, and leave your phones in the car.

Many nice rental cabins in Pigeon Forge, you can take the slow route through Cherokee and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. And my wife and I love Dollywood - clean, great food, great entertainment.
Pigeon Forge itself has some real tourist trap characteristics, but if you don't stay in the middle of the "strip" in a motor lodge, it's really a great weekend destination.

Asheville is a very good one. Especially if you haven’t visited lately. Neat, laid back city with a liberal attitude. Probably not for everyone but I love it. Great breweries too. Maybe take the short trip to Harrahs in Cherokee.

May be too far but if you want to do it up right, try The Cloisters at Sea Island, Ga. Expensive but worth every dollar.

If you want a quiet, relaxing getaway, then check out Fire Mountain Inn & Cabins. They have their own restaurant and spa, so you don't even have to leave the property. It's located on a private mountain and is minutes from Highlands where you can find plenty to do - good restaurants, local shops, trails, etc. It's about a 2 hour drive from Greenville.

Stay at Holiday Inn Express at Murrell's Inlet and go to the beach at Hungington State park. Get Park Passport and it is good for a year at any state park. Seeing the ocean when one is from the Upstate is always a distraction. Or one can camp out at the state park.

https://www.pisgahinn.com/Home | Pisgah Inn From our 5,000 foot elevation at Mt. Pisgah, marvel at the forest-clad mountain peaks, the mist filled coves, and the slopes of fragrant balsams, rhododendrons, mountain laurel and flame azalea. Hike the many trails through a virgin land where deer, bear and other forest creatures play. The vista from your private porch or our dining
This place is wonderful - good restaurant on site and views from the BRP are great.
