How 'bout just read the book? It's not very long, you know.

Cliff notes: Authoritarian rule has come to dominate the world, which by omission excludes China, Russia, and the US of A with its gun toting citizenry, and the protagonist, Winston Whatshisname, revolts rather lamely, but gets laid a couple times before having all hope of individual freedom crushed by an entrenched system of murderous dogmatism bent on maintaining the status quo, beneficiaries of which are left largely un-named, and suffer no comeuppance.

Overriding theme: Trust not authority.

Modern parlance: F#ck all politicians.
