Orange bowl vs Tennessee

Nov 27, 2022, 10:40 PM

Seems to be the going consensus right now. Thoughts on traveling to Miami?

We better worry about UNC....

Unless we magically find a passing offense I want no part of Tennessee. That's a matchup nightmare for our defense and we can't attack their weakness consistently enough on their defense with what we have at QB and receiver.

backup is more unreliable passing than Kelly Bryant, and their defense has never been the worry for us in a hypothetical UT/CU matchup.

Don't get me wrong, there's every chance our coaches concoct a creative way to throw that matchup away, but it's not the ulcer-worthy concern it was a few weeks ago when they had a full team.

Watched them against Vandy here in Nashville Saturday night.

Their offense is limited like ours with Milton at the helm, and he throws a lot of balls away like DJ does. But they have a scary deep threat in Hyatt that no one has been able to cover, and I don't think we would cover him either.

Think it would be a good game, but we'd have to make some throws to beat em.

year. He'll be wearing a suit or sweats on the sideline in that game.

Tennessee would boat race us.

Nov 27, 2022, 11:19 PM [ in reply to Re: Orange bowl vs Tennessee ]

But first, I have no confidence that we can beat UNC.

If we somehow get to the OB, Tennessee smokes us. Milton still throws some king balls too far, but they go where they don't get intercepted.

He hit Hyatt on a bomb in their 1st possession against Vandy. His shirt and medium throws are much better than last year.

Tillman and McCoy should be back for their bowl. That gives them 3 very good receivers that also block well downfield.
They also have Squirrel White, who is blazing fast, Keeton, a solid backup, and a very big tight end, Can't who also plays some at running back.

They have 3 excellent running backs, and a good O line. Their defense is suspect, but we don't want to get into a scoring race with them. If that happens, they'll smoke us.

I'd rather play smash mouth against Bama.

I don’t care too much about winning the boat race.

But that is one of the really cool activities the teams get to do during the week before the game.

The Orange Bowl has always been a great experience for the young men, and I hope this team earns the trip.

With our lethal passing attack and DJ at controls, we can only hope if we make the Orange bowl we don’t get boat raced by whoever we play

DJ would easily out duel UT.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

If the coots can hang 63 on them, we can easily score 10 or even 14.

With the extra practice time, we could lay a 20-burger on 'em.

Made that trip to see the West Virginia game. Sat in that stadium until the last second ticked off the clock. Thankfully, I work the weekend of New Year's.

Rather have Tennessee that Bama for the 12th time.....

Not a bad place to be that time of year. Unless you are a hard core partier and want the South Beach scene, I would recommend staying a little north of the stadium in the Weston area. I was looking the other day and there were surprisingly good rates available at the Vacation Village at Weston and the Vacation Village at Bonaventure. These are condo type accommodations at or near the Bonaventure golf club. We lived in that area for about 10 years and that puts you about 20-30 minutes from the stadium depending on traffic. If you are flying, I definitely recommend flying into FT Lauderdale vs the Miami airport. The last time I was in the stadium was the 2015 Orange Bowl playoff game vs OK but since then they have covered most of the fan seating and I think that would be an improvement if it is a sunny day game or raining. We are probably not going to make the trip this year but hope this information is helpful.
