Open Letter to Recruits

Apr 19, 2022, 8:41 AM

As I’m sure most recruits and their families read TigerNet, I think it would be helpful for us to pass along along a few words of our collective wisdom. While lightbulbbill® can teach the value of showing up to work each and every day and Father G® can teach the value of always supporting teammates, I believe I can pass the value of never giving up on your dreams.

In just the past two weeks alone, I’ve been dumped two and a half times. Is that going to stop me from going on a non-refundable trip for two to California by myself? Of course not. Will couples look at me weird while I attend wine tastings by myself? Probably so. Will groups of friends wonder why there is a guy listening to concerts each night with an empty chair beside him? I certainly don’t care. Ever since I got hammered drinking Biltmore White Zinfandel at a partially open bar wedding in Asheville, I’ve dreamed of taking this trip. I’m not going to let the fact that the girl I met on Sunday night won’t go with me because she got creeped out by the results from a free online background check stop me.

I encourage recruits to have this same attitude. Sure, your coach may tell you that you’ll be lucky to work at a gas station because you frequently run out routes instead of the crossing pattern he called. He may also tell you that you won’t get to travel with the team next Friday because your mom causes too much of a distraction in the stands. Don’t let any of that stop you. I’m not saying that Clemson is the place for you if you aren’t 6’4”, 245 lbs and can’t run a 4.5 forty, but you get my point. If you have freakish God given natural athletic talent, don’t ever give up on your dream to don the orange and regalia.

Wine Country Rx

FastChadMaybe you and Cdixon11 can team up for a bachelor's trip. California wine country may provide just the right medicine. Good luck!

Going out on a limb here....

Apr 19, 2022, 9:32 AM

....but the new found love for "Biltmore White Zifandel" - and "dreaming" of a trip to CA for wine-tasting probably gave her the idea that your name used to be Jill.....and you now identify as "Chad"

Had a client tell me of her trip to SF...

Apr 19, 2022, 11:04 AM

Total garbage hole. intimidating homeless. trash and filth (I'm being nice) everywhere. the City has just recently "opened up" from Covid. No services to be had. Nothing open. couldn't even get room service. Lordy all Californian's need to stay there or leave their voting practices there in the least.
Seems we can't fix stupid....

That sounds bad except for the homeless part. Two of the most fun nights I ever had happened when I asked homeless people to join me for drinks in a bar when none of my friends wanted to go out. Those guys are hilarious when you get them wound up and will do literally anything if you bet them they can’t.

Sounds like you solved your own problem here

Take a homeless person with you on this trip.

Those who write open letters to recruits are mental.

I usually just Tweet at them or send them a DM, but I couldn’t fit this one into only 280 letters.
