GT probably didn't want it over run with Clemson fans. They did trade this for a home game at Bobby Dodd.

The whole point of moving the game to the Mercedes Benz Dome

was to increase capacity. Bobby Dodd only seats about 55,000 while the Mercedes Dome is close to 75,000.
So their logic was to move the game to a different/larger venue and then reduce the total number of available tickets?

They don’t want the look of a half full stadium on TV, so they’ll cover most of the upper deck with banners…game should be played at Tech’s stadium.

the crowd - unilaterally I guess since it's a 'home game' for them, as initially it was to be fully open. And by the looks of it, they made the decision because it would have wound up with a larger Clemson crowd than Tech crowd with all those extra tickets and their own sad turnout expected.
Embarrassed for Ga Tech and the ACC on this.

Yes this is going to shed a bad light on the ACC. National audience and a half full stadium. This is so stupid. The league and Clemson needs to step in. Complete and utter disgrace for GT. This is pathetic.

Do y’all think that there’s going to be general admission tickets available? If there are, then Clemson could very easily have more fans than GT in the stadium. I don’t really get why the ACC doesn’t have a say in this. Anyway, Go Tigers!

can't find it now but pretty sure I read an article on the weekend that GT was holding on to the remaining tickets for season ticket holders and another 3 game GT package

Yep. I posted the article above on Tech's deal with moving home games to M-BS. Says they are receiving a larger allotment of tickets for the kick off game for their season ticket package and mini packages.

It is not sold out. Thru the GT ticket office, it will cost you $175 dollars. You will get your Clemson vs gt ticket and they will then give you 2 tickets to other GT games. And anyone can purchase.
