I believe the playoff committee will move Clemson...

close enough to the top four to move us twice to number 4 if we win out and a couple more things happen. They will respect themselves enough to prepare for oddities in the coming weeks such as ND beating USC and perhaps TCU blowing a game.
Early losses are quite often overlooked by the committee when a team loses once but our mid season loss happened a bit too late to be overlooked. Imo, what pulls us toward the top is because we looked like a different team yesterday due to good jobs by our offense and defense. It wasn't perfect but it was greatly improved over anything we've done this year.
As with most seasons of Dabo's coaching we look like we are peaking at the right time. I say 'most,' because last season we never showed much improvement at all.
I said I wanted to play Bama in the Orange Bowl and I was honest until I saw DJ's progression against the Canes.

I expect us to be bumped two or three spots.

That's two as a minimum and maybe, just maybe 4 at most. My best guess is two, then one more after USuCk or two if we play like we played against Miami the first half. Showing a good defense in the ACCCCG will eliminate other one loss conference champs from the PO and give us a seed, in my view.

I'm afraid #7 is the best we can hope for this week. They won't move TCU, USC, MI, or LSU until they lose. If they did move us more that would be awesome but nothing in the way they are ranking up to now tells me they are ready to do anything drastic. Like I said in another post, I'd be happy if they would go ahead and push us past ALA.

I agree.

However, the POC works to move any possible playoff worth team close enough to the top 4 so they won't have to give them a big jump in case all chaos breaks loose in the final few weeks. Being number nine was OK last week. We should move up a spot or two now. If we continue to win the CCGs will take care of our being behind LSU and Bama unless one of them win the SEC.

I almost feel like they want to leave LSU where they are in case they beat GA and then they feel like they have to put LSU in the playoffs. Harder to do if they are sitting at #8.

I'm afraid they think they have to make a way for LSU if they upset GA. That is the only explanation I can come up with for why they are ranked where they are.

We need to win out, obviously.

If we do, any combination of a SEC champion Georgia, and 2 of 3 of the following; OSU vs Michigan blowout, a TCU loss, and a Socal loss gets us in.
So, let's be Iowa State and Notre Dame fans this weekend.

If ND beats usc we are almost guaranteed to get in.
If OSU blasts Michigan we are almost guaranteed to get in.
If TCU loses in their conference title game we are almost gauranteed to get in.
Not all of those need to happen, just one would likely do it as long as we take care of business.
I’d much rather face UGA in Atlanta than Bama in Miami. As crazy as it sounds we would go in vs uga as clear underdogs and who played the champs closer than us last season?

New - do you believe that if TCU loses to Iowa State this weekend, that they would still get in as a one-loss conference champion ? I think that their lackluster performance against Baylor and a loss to Iowa State knocks them out of the CFP regardless of what happens in their conference championship. Go Ioaw State !
Overall, I hear you saying that UGA and OSU are in. That leaves Clemson, USC, TCU, and Michigan chasing the last two spots.
USC still had ND and Utah - two tough games ahead.
TCU has Iowa State (tough defense) and either K State or Texas ahead - two tough games ahead.
We still have USC and UNC - two tough games ahead
And we have to hope that OSU or Michjigan blow out the other dso that the Big gets only one rep.

Oregon not Utah is in the driver’s seat to play USC

In the PaC12 - title. Oregon would have to lose at OSU to open the dirt for any one else. Utah and Washington would have a chance if OSU beats Oregon but certain things have to happen for each.

I'm not that worried about MI but both USC and TCU need to lose for this to work out for us. TCU should have lost on Saturday.

regarding how they view our legitimacy going forward. If we don't move up at least a spot or two, then they aren't viewing us as deserving a real shot at the final 4, and I would say our chances have become extremely small.

is not going to get us there. USC or TCU must lose and neither Bama nor LSU win the SECCCG. That's a long shot at best, I'd say 30%.

I will admit you had to look pretty hard to find much improvement for sure. I do give them credit for finishing strong rather than just folding the tent after such a tough start.

I think the UNC loss to GTech will hurt us in the long run.
I think ND will beat USC, and if they do, that means ND would have beat us, UNC and USC which might have lessened the blow of the loss.
We shall see... as we saw last night... anything is possible. We need to worry about ourselves and let the chips fall where they may.
If, if, if we make the playoff. I like our chances with a pissed off, underdog Dabo team. If we don't, I look forward to a Bama rematch in Miami.
I believe Reba McEntyre once said, "you can flip a coin, I'm a winner either way... mmm I feel lucky today".
Go Tigers !!!

I can see it being 1. UGA 2.Ohio St 3.Mich 4. TCU 5. USC 6. LSU 7. Clemson
This leaves room and justification for a final 4 of:
1)UGA 2)Ohio St 3)TCU 4)Clemson
I'm assuming USC drops a game, Ohio State beats Michigan, UGA beats LSU.
1.UGA 2.Ohio St 3.TCU 4.Clemson 5.Michigan 6.Alabama 7.USC 8.Tenn 9.LSU 10.Oregon

If I'm wrong I'm wrong, but losses have mattered to the committee before. That bad loss Tenn just took also reflects on what LSU has done.

This Tuesday, Clemson should be ranked 6th but will be ranked 7th. With a win over Uof7C, the Tigers will be 5th or 6th November 29th, unless there is more chaos than just Michigan and theOSU loser dropping out.
