One thing I haven't heard mentioned re: our offense is

Oct 19, 2021, 10:05 AM

the apparent (in my opinion) lack of leadership. The leader of the defense is clearly Skalski. You can see it on the sidelines and on the field. The leader of the offense is....? The only one I've heard anything about in that respect is Bockhorst, but everybody knows that the leader on the offense needs to be the QB. Maybe I've missed it, but I just haven't seen that in DJ. He has talent, otherwise we wouldn't have recruited him and he wouldn't have played so well last year. But last year's offense had Trevor's leadership and also, I think, Amari's. This year, we seem to have a void there, and maybe I'm totally off track here and missing something, but I haven't heard anyone really bring that up.

Yes, the offense needs an identity, and yes it needs experience, but it really needs player leadership, and I think we're missing that at the moment. Kinda hard for a QB who is in a slump, to say the least, to muster himself to be a leader, and you can't just fill that void with a different player like you can subbing out a position.

this was always going to be a challenge. Leaders emerge over time. Skalski wasn't the leader, until he was. We do need that guy on offense. In 2018 KB was the team leader, until he wasn't. It took time though for everyone to embrace Trevor in that role. Players form bonds and are normally loyal to them. KB had formed those bonds, but he clearly wasn't going to hold off Trevor. Despite what many say here, the team seems to be behind DJ. Bock certainly is and his voice carries weight with the team. DJ has to grow in to that though. He's replacing legends, that ain't easy

I believe the coaches are pushing DJ to exert more leadership, but it is not his nature. He is very reserved, but I hope and believe it will come with time.

TE hinted at it the other day about wanting guys to be more vocal. I'd like to see a little more individual ownership on player assignments. Seems to be kind of some ho hum effort at times.

I think DJ being so young is being forgotten by a lot of people. That and the fact that his home life is in chaos! I think one of the most profound aspects of Christianity is mercy. Maybe we as Christians can be more like our Creator and offer this 18-19 year old KID some mercy right now. God knows if I was in his shoes I would need it. In fact, I can't even see myself being able to shoulder what he is being asked to deal with on a daily basis. MERCY guys. Christians talk about forgiveness a lot but when was the last time anyone said a prayer for this kid? For God to grant him some measure of peace? If you call yourself a Christian, and have not charity(mercy, Forgiveness, forbearance) you become as a sounding brass or tinkling cymbal. Embrace the opportunity to be bigger for someone else when they need it without getting any recognition for it at all! Go Tigers!

For what it's worth....

If Bockhorst is the offensive leader, then the offense is fuct, indefinitely

That guy gets his @** handed to him every game.

Fact.

Hello wesdg007, you should ask your grandmother to help you to understand football. Maybe then you'll realize that when you watch Bockhorst play Guard (his natural position), he actually does very well.

Good luck to you ... I hope that your grandmother is kind enough to spend some time with her idiot grandson.
