He has shown some really good flashes. If he stays the course and doesn't do the portal thing, he will be awesome next couple yrs. He will be a high draft pick from what I have seen.
It's horrible that nowadays you almost always have to say if a player stays because it seems like the Portal is a magnet almost. You know, I doubt many coaches directly reach out to players prior to them entering the portal, but these upper players are pretty well connected with all the camps, 7-7 travelling teams, and HS elite games like Under Armor, North-South, etc. That said, it would be easy for a head coach to ask his players if they know XYZ person, and likely someone on the team does, then the coach asks the current player to call and ask XYZ player to give coach a call. I could see that happening easily, then that HC gives the 'grass is greener' speech so the player joins the portal. So easily manipulated. There needs to be penalties to a player for leaving unexpectedly and I wish the 'sit out 1 season' was still enforced or you lose 1yr eligibility if you want to play immediately. Some penalty for transferring prior to graduation. Sorry for the tangent, just have dirty taste in mouth after this year's losses to portal.
But I have high expectations for Mukuba, seems to be way above average as a freshman.

Why would he hit the portal?

Didn't say he would, but you never know nowadays with these kids. I didn't expect Mike Jones, Tchio, or some others to transfer either. I surely hope he doesn't.

Those guys weren't starting were they? Big difference. Why would a starter transfer? He's got it made and the team may be down this year, but history shows it will be back up with Dabo.

When we see players jumping through the portal, it's hardly ever a player that has worked his way to being a starter on the team that he's with. Guys jumping through the portal know that they're not good enough to take a starting position from an established starter, or they're not willing to out work the established starter, so it's best they move on anyway, don't you think!!!

Mike Jones would have played A LOT if he had stayed.
That would be the case even with our excellent LB corp of Skalski, Spector, and Simpson.
M.Jones could have filled at all 3 spots and shown great versatility to NFL scouts.
But he gone.

I think that he saw the writing on the wall. You never want to lose your starting position but I think that he would have to Simpson. It's a little different situation but I think it was still one of not wanting to compete for time.
I don't think that Mukuba is in danger of losing the starting role.

Agree Mike Jones was forced out

Jones understood Simpson had a good shot at his job, and six-year seniors Skalski and Spector had the other two LB jobs locked up without competition.
Jones is gunning for the NFL. He had to leave.

I would think that in a few years, when the players become more savvy to the NIL game, the best players may start using the portal to go to the highest bidding school, rather than play for a shot at the NFL. At least, that is my fear. At that point, I will give up watching.

Special like Bresee and Murphy last year. Very impressive. Fast and quick. Can he play slot?

He made two huge plays at the end of the Louisville game. When they come up big in crunch time you know they are ballers . Look at Skalski.
