Once again....our fate comes down to OFFENSIVE LINE!

Aug 31, 2021, 4:29 PM

We have all the tools in place in all other positions to be formidable and make a run at the National Championship.

Can this offensive line step up and play at a decent level like in 2018? We don't need an A+ performance....just a solid B. Heck...even a C+. They need to get a nasty streak about them and play tough.

The comments about our center are very concerning but I'm looking forward to watching them play.

Go Tigers!

UGA going to stack the LOS until we make them stop.

Gotta mix it up on first and second down.

UGA doesn’t need to stack the line. Their front four are good enough to get it done. The Clemson D-line has their work cut out for them too as they try to stop the UGA run game.

I disagree a 100%, our Offensive line was pretty good last year, we made it to the playoffs without our top three WR’s.

If Justin Ross or Ngata would have been healthy it would have forced teams to quit stacking the box on us. Teams stacked the box because they knew how much of a threat ETN was in the backfield & they knew we couldn’t stretch the field on a regular basis.

We will be much better at OL but they will be even more impressive because we can stretch the field & make you pay for stacking the box.

Look for us to stack the box on UGA as the game goes along. We will force JT Daniels to throw. UGA has a great OL but they will not look very good at run blocking if we stack the box.

our run blocking was horrible all yr. ETNs ypc went down around 3ypc.
We were 11th in rushing in the ACC i think.
They did a decent job pass blocking tho, but run blocking was horrible

Teams with decent defensive fronts stopped our running game last year without stacking the box and thankfully we were able to beat them with NFL level first round talent quarterbacks in TLaw and DJ. I will go out on a limb and predict that if we are 11th in our own conference in rushing again we won’t finish on top of the mountain this year.

You got it! Our offensive line lost the game to OSU

No way. The oline was weak tbe last 2 seasons. Several times against the Buckeyes they had a 5 man front and we allowed someone to come thru clean. The oline is the difference in this team. If they do not show drastic improvement we are not winning Saturday or the natty. Sorry it is what it is.

.....will get Clemson killed Saturday night and maybe 2 more times during the season.

I am looking forward to that group proving itself this year.

Aug 31, 2021, 5:21 PM

They have tough competition in practice, so I hope they are ready for Saturday. I sure am!

Respectively have to disagree on a couple points as have been stated already. Our oline has to be much better and it will.

We'll know more about our defense Sat. Do we have a stud DL, you bet. Probably the best in the country.

Linebackers are good, seasoned and know the playbook but can be exposed by a good offense. How much Simpson, Bentley and Kane get to play...

Corners - have they taken the next step? Hope so. How much have our safety recruits from 2019/20 developed? We'll know Sat as Dabo said.

Would Be Highly "Surprised/Disappointed"

Aug 31, 2021, 7:41 PM

I would be shocked if the OL play isn't much better this season. Unlike some other comments; I do not believe opening against a soft opponent would have been preferred. Start with the best in the land. Georgia has mastered stopping the run. Well, if you can do anything at all against them, you should be able to handle anything after them.
Obviously, Georgia as good as they are on defense didn't win it all last year and lost more than one game, I believe. They aren't unbeatable!
Find a way to win!
Play well from a physical standpoint even if you don't always win your one-on-one. Do that and I like the Tiger's chances.
I give the CU coaches the edge in "coaching"!
They have some good staff members on the Georgia Staff - no disrespect to them - but we have proven winners on Clemson that aren't going to be overwhelmed! Alabama had a ton more talent twice and didn't win. Ohio State too ( not last year )! And that was when we were outside the top 10 in composite class rankings. We are inside the top 10 now and aren't going anywhere!

The biggest reason I would be disappointed is all the attention that was placed on the OL as soon as the Ohio State game concluded.
Hoping those guys took it personally and come out mad at the world and ready to prove something! If they at least neutralize Georgia we are in good shape.

The O-line is serviceable enough to run through the ACC schedule but...

Will likely be exposed against Georgia. Especially, in the middle at G/C/G.

Poor O-line play and an anemic run game will not get you a win against GA.

Thank gawd you were here to point out what nobody else would have ever figured out. It’s like stupid coaching and an anemic passing game won’t get you a win over Clemson.

I know and that’s scary. I don’t trust the o line nor the secondary. I realize this is a new team and new year but a lot of the same players. They can get better technique wise but seriously doubt they will be the more physical team this week. I haven’t felt good about this game all summer but for some reason a lot of folks are very confident. I definitely think Clemson can win but it’s going to be tough.

I think most any team can say their fate comes down to both lines of scrimmage.

Even the defensive line. Ohio State destroyed our DL.

Completely agree. Look at the rushing totals against Ohio State and Notre Dame the only decent D-Lines WITH Etienne we played last year. It was awful and Ugay's line is better. We finally landed some better prospects last year but they are far too young to have an impact and the rotating center comment scares me. Hoping for the best but anyone that isn't concerned needs to take off the orange glasses.
