On XT Bottom Line is You Are Either "All In" or You Are Not

Sep 18, 2017, 5:32 PM

Clemson's brand is only getting stronger, if XT plays around he might find himself in a spot where Clemson has other options that fit better culturally. You may be a great 5 * but a 4 * might be a better system fit.

I think a few years ago we would have freaked out, now the staff knows the value of our brand. Let XT go visit that $hithole of Columbus or Tallahassee he will note a marked difference.

Micah Parsons is looking for another school

I'd take either one of them.

Re: Micah Parsons is looking for another school

I would take the #1 defensive end recruit who is committed to play for Clemson. The one who grew up in a heavily pro-Gamecock area and despite this came onto campus and said he was all in against the odds. The one who has been the biggest recruiter by a commit I have ever seen. The one who just 2 days ago was talking trash to the coots for getting beat by Kentucky.

The Reality is Clemson's Brand is as Strong as ANY Program

Sep 18, 2017, 5:40 PM

Out there now. This is not an arrogance but a fact that playing defense at Clemson will get you an early round draft pick to the NFL and get you on a perennial Top 10 team.

We still can be welcoming and supportive but we do not need to pander or play games. We stand by our commitment to give him a scholarship 100% unless he chooses another path. We owe it to these kids to teach them the meaning of their word, it is one of the cornerstones of Dabo's program.

Re: The Reality is Clemson's Brand is as Strong as ANY Program

Sep 18, 2017, 5:56 PM

Clemson's brand is strong. I am sure we could recruit another big time prospect to play DE. Do not make the mistake of confusing that with recruiting a player who can do what XT does. Because that player does not exist. You are talking about a young man playing games when he has said nothing publically of that sort. Based on Dabo's policy I think it is safe to say he didn't do this privately to coaches either. If he does decide to make visits do not forget Shaq Smith.

If so, I'll leave this here.....it's not just a "recruiting sales pitch". There's stuff to back it up...ready to see him become the next in line.

"Only LSU (14) has had more defensive linemen taken in the last 10 NFL drafts than Clemson (13). In the last three NFL drafts alone, Clemson has had six defensive linemen selected. Last season, 11 former Clemson defensive linemen had jobs on NFL teams. This year, there were eight former Clemson defensive linemen on NFL opening-day rosters, albeit two have transitioned to outside linebacker in the pros."

What purpose do these comments serve. Suggesting nefarious intent with ZERO evidence belongs on the coot board, not here. ZT is a Clemson commit until he or Dabo say otherwise and we are fortunate to have him.

Clemson is too good a program to have to resort to this type of post. Not warranted, and you absolutely can do more harm than good with this kind of fandom BS. Crump just needs to delete this thread.

XT has been one of the biggest recruiting helps we have had this year at Clemson. For someone to give that much effort and time in becoming a tiger and making the Clemson brand even better it's a complete long shot that he decommits. He's having fun and as one of the top players in the country it would be selfish of Clemson to not allow him to view all his options or even suggest he doesn't and we will allow him to do so. He is and will remain for Clemson in my mind but if he chooses to visit other places to show him without a doubt he's making the correct decision by coming to Clemson that's his choice and Clemson nation should and will support him still.

Re: On XT Bottom Line is You Are Either "All In" or You Are Not

Sep 18, 2017, 5:49 PM

There is no evidence of ZT playing around. So until he decommits why not leave this alone? When has ZT said anything other than that Clemson is a special place? He has been one of our strongest recruiters. I think we can all come to the conclusion that you are either all in or not without people spelling it out for us. He has committed to become a Clemson Tiger, he has signed a financial aid agreement to become a Clemson Tiger, he has worked his butt off to encourage other elite talent to become Clemson Tigers and we should all respect that until we hear from him that something has changed.

Verbal commitment is like an engagement. Nothing is binding but it's serious. That Facebook post might as well read like this.

"My son really loves you and wants to marry you, but while he is engaged to you I'd like him to go on some dates and if those don't work out I want him to marry you, is that cool with you?"

Re: On XT Bottom Line is You Are Either "All In" or You Are Not

Sep 18, 2017, 6:21 PM

You did read his dad started with "ALL IN", right?

It's simply an explanation as to what caused the rumors and airing it out so people can understand why it all of sudden came up. In the end, it states Xavier is All In and committed to Clemson. That's all you need to worry about. Every father wants the best for his kids and wants to make sure his kid makes the right choice and decision for himself.

I respect what his dad said. I can't say that I would not want to see these other campuses just for the ability to say "been there, saw that".

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

While i agree with the general premise of your post

Sep 18, 2017, 6:25 PM

i also think posting directly to a high school kid is asinine and childish. None of us know these kids or know the full spectrum of any kids reasons to play for a certain school. If anything that would make me want to do the opposite of what you're telling me "I better do." Hopefully he knows there in every fan base and if its not you it'll be the coot fan i heard about earlier on twitter using racial epithets to show how asinine and childish he is.

XT is 100% committed from what i've seen. Heck he's been our #1 recruiter and has the ear of just about every high profile baller in the country about Clemson. So don't be sending out ultimatums to people you're looking up at. This dude is going to be a stud in the valley and in the NFL and doesn't need your help to get there.

But in general kids pick schools based out of a number of circumstances/pressures/etc. I had a feeling that Nkemdiche really wanted to go to Clemson but was told to go to Ole Miss by outside influences. At the end of the day; he stayed in trouble at Ole Miss and allegedly being apart of money exchanging hands. I think his initial gut was correct but hey, he had to do what he had to do. So ya'll give these guys breathing room and keep your crazy to yourself.

Re: On XT Bottom Line is You Are Either "All In" or You Are Not

Sep 18, 2017, 6:26 PM

Let me tell you where I think your getting this all wrong.

Xavier Is clearly a young man of integrity and has made it clear since he committed that he is all in. However as a young man with that kind of character, he is essentially doing the right thing by at least listening to the wishes of his father and doing his due diligence by visiting other schools. Honestly, I can't blame his father for thinking that way either. Observe all your options and determine which school will be the best for you and your future in football.

Because of that, I believe Clemson and our coaches respect that even more. It isn't showing that he is not serious in his commitments, but rather he is willing to do the right thing and listen to the wisdom of his elders.

I have no doubt in my mind that Xavier Thomas will suit up as a Clemson tiger when it's time to play college football and you shouldn't either.
