The level of enthusiasm in the stadium as a whole seems down this year. Someone can correct me if my memory is incorrect. But, the DJ played music during timeouts last year, keeping the crowd, especially the students fully engaged. This season they simply play sponsors ads on the video boards, while the crowd sits through TV timeouts which feel like they last an eternity.

Just my two cents from this old fella.

You are spot on with that. There are as many "on field commercials" as there are t.v. commercials and yes, it does disengage everyone.
