Ole Miss was better, but that ump put us in a corner early

Jun 2, 2019, 7:42 AM

Ole miss deserved to win.... But Our guys had a TON going against them especially when our pitchers have to throw 5-6 strikes just to get someone out.

I never seen such BS behind the plate. The way he paused.... the nonstop missed pitches for strikes. It absolutely hurt our pitching staff.

Let's go do what we do best..... Beat the gamecocks. Then worry about Old ####

The Tiger offense never got on track due to some good pitching. The Ole Miss pitcher used a lot of spin and movement on his pitches which makes it difficult to not pop up on those big swings unless the ball is hit perfect.

I will say one thing about the ump though, he was not consistent. When a breaking ball came across the letters, he called a strike but seemed to not call a strike for a fast ball at the same level. This resulted in a lot of extra pitches for Tiger pitchers.

If nothing else, an ump should he consistent. Whether you agree or disagree with the strike zone, if the ump is consistent where he calls strikes (low or high, inside or outside), then the coaches and players can settle in and play ball.

Umps are going to make some bad calls. What happened last night though was not the umps fault- We had no consistency in anything. Just like its been the entire last half the season. Next year should be better. Don't expect OMAHA this year.

Hard for me to see how next year is going to be better when 7 of the 9 guys who took the field last night are three years removed from high school and could all possibly be gone after this year. The only two true sophomores who started last night were Hall and Teodosio who were no better the second half of the year as they were as freshmen. When you can't outrecruit Jordan Greene in three years and Elijiah Henderson is your first pinch hitter off the bench in postseason play that tells me all I need to know.If we are going to be improved next year we better be extremely lucky with the draft this week and Michael Green needs to come back along with Spiers.

I can't condone making excuses for things we can't control
