Olu Babalola

Jan 28, 2022, 9:46 AM

Does anyone remember him? He was probably one of the first Clemson basketball players I have memories of being born in the 90s. I was naturally drawn to him as a kid because of his name.

According to Wikipedia, he is still playing pro ball

It looks like his last season was 16-17. His wikipedia probably just hasn't been updated.

Here is a youtube interview of him from 2020 though:

Didn't Tommy Bowden let him try out for the football team one year?

Yes, he dribbled pretty well for a bigger player.***

My favorite memory was him jacking a 3 against Duke at Littlejohn. The entire arena yelled NO!!! in unison then it swished and again the arena erupted YES!!!!! Hilarious moment

I was a student at Clemson when Olu played. I saw him practicing…

Shooting in Fike one day. And I was utterly surprised to see a college player jacking up 3-point air balls in practice.

But he had a pro career, so he didn’t give up! Tells ya what ya can accomplish with hard work and determination.

Ola and Ford baskets in less than 30 sec beat Va Tech...

At buzzer in last game at home. That is when OP really started turned around the corner of the program. See video:

That was one of my favorite memorie of Clemson basketball. If I remember correctly, it was senior night, and 3 seniors were involved in the plays that led up to the win.

Balbalola hit a 3, then shawan Robinson stole the ball, passed it to Ford for the win. Awesome.

How about Iker Iturbe?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah good player during Rick Barnes era...

Jan 28, 2022, 2:01 PM

Slab 5 member. Ian Schifflin reminds me of him a little but doesn't have the very good handle for a forward. Iturbe 6-7 could handle and pass so well for a forward.

Remember Sykes and his dunks?

Jan 28, 2022, 6:23 PM

I remember this one at Cola vs Coots. He was so athletic. OP lost his first game vs the Coots and then won 6 straight while he was at Clemson. I remember the Tigers won 3 straight times in Cola and the last two were very good crowds over 10k and over half of them were Tiger fans in two double digit wins. Was anyone there? Check it out:

Trevor Booker also had a great dunk in that same game that Sykes did. They were the #1 and #3 plays on SC...
