OL and Secondary Issues & Hats off to OSU

Jan 2, 2021, 8:23 AM

These two groups all year have not consistently played up to their level. It starts with coaching and I think there are opportunities with personnel to right the ship.

Buckeyes exploited us where we were vulnerable so hats off to them. They wanted the W and had a great game plan. Fields played like a MVP. We got punched in the nose 5 times in a row and didn’t respond.

Really Sucks that TL’s last pass in a Clemson Uni was a interception.

I think the defense as a whole was not great all year due in part to some DL issues which a previous poster posted on our misses and departures there for the last couple of years. The DL did not get pressure with 4 all year and did not last night. On the bright side this was a very young defense.

Proud of our Tigers but we were not as elite as Bama or OSU this year across the board. Top to bottom the Tigers will be a better team next year.

Agree 100% - it was clear earlier in the season that this may be a "rebuilding year" - one heck of a season for a rebuilding year. Defense wasn't the same as prior year - it was also clear that tackling was not as sharp as in prior years (assuming due to youth) - very bright future at DL and secondary, but was so young this year.

Same for OL - even with TL, going against elite teams one-dimensional is a problem. Running the ball (even with ETN) was a struggle nearly all year against stronger competition. Hopefully can improve on OL next year.

Lastly - WR injuries; very happy for Powell this year - really stepped up and this year, which was really needed, but we were really weak/thin this year due to injuries. Bringing back Ross, Ladson, Ngata, Williams next year (if all healthy) will be one heck of a Receiving Corp. Go Tigers. And as always, Win with Class, Lose with Class.
