Not a die hard Trump supporter,

Oct 2, 2018, 6:36 PM

But I just can't seem to comprehend how you could support what the Democrats are moving to. Universal income, etc. is begging for a sloppy welfare state--entitlement, complacency, no sense of the value of a dollar. Affirmative action (though it may have good intentions) cheats quality and hard work. These type of principles do nothing to improve and better a nation..rather just the opposite. Ans if you get your political opinions from people like Madonna....I'm just shaking my head.

And the Republican Party isn't much better, but they do have good principles (A strong FAMILY unit is the strength and should never be infringed). It's called generational wealth..you work and build up all you can to pass down to your children, then they do the same). There are many many many wealthy people that aren't privileged--they're wise. They didn't stand around with their hands out and blaming those who are better off..instead, they chose to cherish family, see the fortunes of opportunity that exists in the USA, and go after it.

No, he's not Jesus. He never said he was God, in fact he gives credit to God if you ever open your ears. He's the President of the United States, and his job is to represent the country and lead. Whether it's trade deals, tariffs (which are helping domestic small businesses compete), taking hard stances on adversaries you name it. Nobody is going to tell you what you want to hear every single day..but sometimes it's what you need to hear.

Well the primary job of a President is to create optimism about the country.
-Assure Americans that something is doing done about threats abroad and at home (N. Korea, ISIS, Iran, honor military and law enforcement so that the next generation is raised with a respect for the rule of law but at the same time acknowledge the blessings of freedoms we do have ).
-Assure workers of their purpose and their valued contribution to the country and economy.
-Focus on discovering/utilizing our energy resources and revitalizing the steel industry.
- Create enthusiasm to inspire young entrepreneurs and enthuse older so that they will invest here to create jobs and opportunities. You can't do this by continually creating pessimism and saying "those jobs aren't coming back" or blindly signing NAFTA and being content when so many people are forced out of work. At some point you have to do something about it.
-Furthermore, (not the Presidents job but was needed) dispose of extreme political correctedness and identity politics (so extreme that children are growing up confused as to what gender they are). I believe in diversity and encourage it because that's what has made USA different from a culture standpoint. We all have differences (backgrounds, races, cultures, religions) but what we all have in common in this country is we are Americans. That's is the ONLY label that unites all of us. That's why it's of utmost importance to ensure the wellbeing and independence Americans first (independent from other countries and as a people independent from our own gov't). Government is supposed to serve as a ladder to help citizens climb in life through opportunities, rather than a rope that pulls you in whatever direction they want. With a rope, they can cut you off whenever they feel the need.

With confusion on gender roles/identity, massive job losses, drugs, terrorism headlines, poor role models being glorified in the mainstream, lack of emphasis on Parenting/family unit (maybe due to loss of jobs and drugs), and not to mention constant war, it's no wonder there has been such a drastic spike in depression and mental illnesses in the few decades. But people seem to accept being pacified rather than look at the bigger picture. No one person is to blame for all of this but the fact that the last few Presidents smiled in our face while it was happening should disgust you enough.

As far as big bills (such as the badly needed trillion dollar infrastructure plan), all the POTUS can do is propose it and bring it to attention. Congress and career politicians (most, which I remind you have done very little to help over the years) are the ones who have to realize the necessity to advance the nation regarding objectives that really matter--transgender bathroom rights aren't one of those things. It's regressive, creates more confusion in parenting and raising children, and makes Americans look like we don't know right from left.

Nevertheless, reality star or not, more people are paying attention to politics, congress, local/state governments. More are understanding the importance of domestic industries, and are learning how the economy works (locally and nationally). More are understanding the importance of trade skills and feeling encouraged to pursue them. More are understanding the family unit and generational wealth (doing more so you're kids will have more than you).

Sure the reality star is far from perfect, but at least he's used his platform to create optimism and shift a focus to areas that actually matter. If you're one that wants it given to you on a platter or looks for the negative in every sentence, I feel bad for you.. It's going to be a long 6 years.

Re: Okay, now I have to ask...

It would take pretty big results, and only time will tell but so far so good. I would say significantly lower Crime rates, Large decreases in poverty and national deficit. However, don't think anyone should have to be a die hard supporter of a President..the Oval Office should have always considered American interests first and foremost. He's just doing what already should have been done.

And here... we... go!

Oct 2, 2018, 10:46 PM [ in reply to Re: Wait wait wait... ]

If you want to skip all my comments and cut straight to my most blunt point, scroll to the bottom.

Well the primary job of a President is to create optimism about the country.

Then he is failing miserably. Earlier this year, the majority of Americans did not feel optimistic about America's direction under Trump.

-Assure Americans that something is doing done about threats abroad and at home (N. Korea, ISIS, Iran, honor military and law enforcement so that the next generation is raised with a respect for the rule of law but at the same time acknowledge the blessings of freedoms we do have ).

He failed with his N. Korea deal, nothing new has happened with Iran, and military vets have suffered under the cuts made by Trump and the GOP. He does not care about the military. Anyone who believes this has been duped.

-Assure workers of their purpose and their valued contribution to the country and economy.

He hasn't done this. He's not some magical fairy that encourages all Americans to work harder.

His tariffs have lowered enthusiasm and threatened South Carolina's economy.

-Furthermore, (not the Presidents job but was needed) dispose of extreme political correctedness and identity politics (edited out the rest for length)...

This is a president who repeatedly alienates minorities and women, and he has stirred up and enabled some of the most despicable people in our country to rise up against these groups more than we have seen in quite some time. He gave comfort to white supremacists. Let's get real here. He doesn't celebrate diversity.

With confusion on gender roles/identity,

Trump can't fix this. This has existed for centuries and isn't new.

...massive job losses,

This area was already improving before Trump.

...drugs,

You'll never stop this.

...terrorism headlines,

He doesn't care.

...poor role models being glorified in the mainstream,

Like Donald Trump.

...lack of emphasis on Parenting/family unit (maybe due to loss of jobs and drugs),

Haha... no. This isn't a thing.

...and not to mention constant war,

Which you can thank both of parties for that under the military industrial complex, but Trump has fit in nicely by trying to provoke more problems.

...it's no wonder there has been such a drastic spike in depression and mental illnesses in the few decades.

Mental illness and depression haven't increased in America. The ability to diagnose and treat these disorders, as well as our understanding of them, has improved. These have been problems for a long, long time.

But people seem to accept being pacified rather than look at the bigger picture. No one person is to blame for all of this but the fact that the last few Presidents smiled in our face while it was happening should disgust you enough.

Well, I can at least agree with you here.

As far as big bills (such as the badly needed trillion dollar infrastructure plan), all the POTUS can do is propose it and bring it to attention.

Yeah, orrrrrrr... he can push for more spending and rack up bigger bills with his personal comforts. Which is what Trump has done. People who support Trump don't support fiscal responsibility. Period.

Bro, you are really, really hung up on this transgender thing. Let it go. Those people aren't hurting you. They can do nothing to hurt you. Let em pee where they want and just leave em alone.

Nevertheless, reality star or not, more people are paying attention to politics, congress, local/state governments.

The only boost in paying attention to politics has been from the people who are extraordinarily pissed at this admin and plan to oppose it at all costs. So yeah, I guess Trump did that. He woke up a lot of people who realize that they can't sit back and let stupid #### like this continue.

Sure the reality star is far from perfect, but at least he's used his platform to create optimism and shift a focus to areas that actually matter. If you're one that wants it given to you on a platter or looks for the negative in every sentence, I feel bad for you.. It's going to be a long 6 years.

He's not far from perfect. He's a nightmare and an imbecile. The reports coming out of this White House are like nothing we have seen in our lifetimes, and not in a good way.

So here's my most blunt point in case you skipped to this: As cac2011 said, it's just as equally stupid to trust and listen to this orange reality star about politics as it is to listen to Madonna. Both are fools, and people who look to them for any, and I mean ANY, guidance on our nation or politics are equally foolish. The only difference between the two is that one of them happened to run for president and find the perfect storm of incompetency between the GOP and Hillary to get elected.

He's a bad president, a bad person, and we can't get rid of him soon enough.

I think the infrastructure issue will be taken up soon after the new members show up in congress after the midterms. I don't think it will cost a trillion bucks because Trump will not overspend on anything construction. He knows how to manage construction project to get the max quality at the lowest price.

I also suggest Trump will attach a fairly nice piece of funding for a border wall. He will put a stop to illegal immigration and will not be fooled by granting amnesty until it is built.

If he's smart he will grant conditional amnesty to every border jumper inside our borders. That alone would get him another 8 or 10 million votes. Mexican know which side the bread is buttered. They aren't dumb like some of us.

Oct 3, 2018, 6:24 AM

Other than that we're not differing in opinion too far. I'm probably a little more of a Trump suckup than you but I can support my opinion.

Hillary, dems and pubs alike have ignored the cries of the middle class diminishing over the past four decades. Personal opinion doesn't matter regarding this issue, it's a fact. Trump when straight to the people and said what they wanted to hear.

The message was pride in America though tax cuts, lower regulations, stronger defense leading to fear from other world powers which generated due respect for America, revamping our trade policies so we could have a chance to regain the jobs exported with NAFA, the Pacific Pack agreement, the EU's horrible way of taking advantage of us and the Chinese using us like a patsy on trade.

He promised to put his foot down on NK, Iran and other sponsors of terrorism including OPEC and their manipulating our cost of energy.

He's doing a good job of fulfilling those promises in just what is less than half his term. If someone is going to beat him in 2020 they are going to have to run with his promises of 2016 and convince American they can do it better than Trump.

Re: I never seen a POTUS who didn't give credit to God.

Oct 3, 2018, 9:52 AM

I really don't see any candidate from either side that could take him on in 2020, either because they rely on the status quo identity politics in their rhetoric, they would rely on using his 2016 promises, or because they have bones in their closet.

To be honest, I think the only person that would have the best shot is Nikki Haley and she works for his administration.
