Ok old farts, inflation re: Furman tickets go:

Aug 20, 2022, 10:00 AM

I see on here where a feller is selling tix to Furman game for $90 a piece. I absolutely don’t deny that our brand warrants that but any memories on games like Furman? I’m 45 and I seem to remember a 1/3 of that when I was growing up, maybe even better? Anyone?

I love the run we are on. I got to admit, it was its own kind of fun when we were down. No stress. No expectations. Just go to a game and watch the Tigers we loved. No band wagon jumpers. No fair weather fans. Just true Tigers.

The Roach in 1982 with my Coot roommate when Furman embarrassed South Carolina 28-23.

Who knows, the father of the famous 2015 Coot Crier (after they lost to the Citadel, HOW?) may have been crying in Willie-B that day!

I was there too acting nice while sitting with my Coot BIL. I did one of my best acting jobs disguising my pleasure over the Coots losing.

I feel just a twinge of guilt over my deception as my BIL passed away 3 yrs ago in a tragic accident. Just a twinge.

I'm in my 80's and remember Furman tickets being $3 face value for reserved seats. General admission was $0.25. Those were the days!!

Since you have to pay Seat Equity to get tickets, it is part of the cost of tickets. This is not rocket surgery.

I remember picking up those tickets free. People have them laying on their tailgate tables to give away. I remember getting Ga Tech tickets for $5 from the scalper 2 minutes after kick off. The only two tickets that were even remotely expensive were FSU and uSC. Of course UGA when we rarely played them, their tickets cost a mint.

Back in the cadet days of 1946-50 we didn't pay anything. Lots of times the entire corps marched into the stadium. The good old days.

I bought tickets to the Furman game for two dollars each ($2.00) back in the late 90s. I remember it was where Woody made his debuts. Diamond Adam’s mother died at halftime with a heart attack and coach West had to tell him. It was about 1000 degrees that day. As soon as the opening kickoff happened, my four year old hit me with “Daddy; can we go home?”. I made it until halftime anyway; that was probably child abuse.
