I just do not understand rugby! They huddle and the ball just comes squirting out and its a free for all.

But #### it's fun to watch.

There's a couple things I can't figure out...

1. When someone is tackled, how come the other team can't just pick up the ball?

2. The scrum? No f'ing idea why this happens or the outcome

3. What's with picking up someone so they can catch a ball?

May only pass ball backwards

They tackle intelligently bc no pads

A team gets a set number of tackles (depending on league) and don't have to concede the ball until the other team has tackled their runners that many times

Often instead of conceding the ball they will kick away before taking their last tackle

If the other team catches a kicked ball cleanly they get a free kick without interference or defense from their opposition

If you accidentally hit he ball forward it's considered a "knock on" and you concede the ball

A try is a touchdown and it is scored by touching the ball down in the end zone

You kick the extra points from the same angle that your try was touched at (so it makes sense to try to touch the ball in the center of the end zone)

A scrum is like an in bounds pass. It can be very competitive in some leagues and purely for tradition and show in others
